الدكتور غسان العطية: الحكم والمعارضة في العراق ... أين اخطأنا ؟ 

استضافت مؤسسة الحوار الإنساني بلندن ، يوم الأربعاء الموافق 21 نيسان/أبريل 2021 الساعة 6:30 مساءً بتوقيت لندن، 8:30 مساءً بالتوقيت المحلي لبغداد، على منصة زووم الدكتور غسان العطية في أمسية ثقافية تحدث فيها عن جوانب من التجربة السياسية للحكم والمعارضة في العراق المعاصر.
غسان العطية، ولد في بغداد، وحصل على بكالوريوس في العلوم السياسية من الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت عام 1963 ، وكان في شبابه المبكر قد انتظم بالعمل السياسي في صفوف حركة القوميين العرب، سافر الى بريطانيا من اجل اكمال دراسته ونال شهادة الدكتوراه في جامعة إدنبرة باسكتلندا عام 1968 في العلوم السياسية .عمل بعد تخرجه مدرسا في كلية الاقتصاد والعلوم السياسية بجامعة بغداد، وتولى عام 1972 مسؤولية ادارة مركز الدراسات الفلسطينية التابع للجامعة، ثم انتقل فيما بعد مستشارا للوفد العراقي للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك. وقد استقال من وزارة الخارجية العراقية عام 1974 وعاد للعمل في جامعة بغداد حتى إعارة خدماته الى جامعة الدول العربية في مقرها الجديد في تونس بين عامي 1980 - 1984، انتقل بعدها الى العاصمة البريطانية لندن. بعد احتلال الكويت عام 1990، عاد الى العمل السياسي وقام باصدار مجلة الملف العراقي التي باتت مصدرا توثيقيا للشأن العراقي واستمر الملف بالصدور قرابة 15 سنة ، اي لغاية عام 2005. عمل الدكتور العطية باحثًا زائرًا في جامعة ستانفورد عام 2006. وهو مؤلف كتاب العراق : نشأة الدولة, 1908-1921.

The HDF in London will host Dr Ghassan Atiyyah on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, 6:30pm GMT, 8:30pm AST (Baghdad local time) over Zoom. In this cultural evening, he will be speaking about aspects of the political experience of governance and opposition in contemporary Iraqi society.
Ghassan Atiyyah was born in Baghdad and obtained a BA in political science from the American University in Beirut in 1963. In his early youth, he had organized political work in the ranks of the Arab Nationalist Movement before travelling to Britain to complete his studies. He obtained a PhD at the University of Edinburgh In Scotland in 1968 in political science. After his graduation, he was a teacher at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at the University of Baghdad. In 1972 he assumed responsibility for managing the University’s Center for Palestine Studies, then moved later as a consultant to the Iraqi delegation to the United Nations in New York. He resigned from the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1974. He returned to work at the University of Baghdad until he loaned his services to the Arab League at its new headquarters in Tunis 1980-1984. He moved to the British capital, London. After the occupation of Kuwait in 1990, he returned to political work. He issued the magazine The Iraqi File, which became a documentary source for the Iraqi issue. The Iraqi File continued to be published for nearly 15 years until 2005. Dr Al-Attiyah also worked as a visiting researcher at Stanford University in 2006 and is the author of the book Iraq: Genesis the State, 1908-1921.
