Spirituality is a continuous journey towards freedom. The nature of our consciousness is such that we need freedom but due to our physical tendencies and social conditioning we lose our freedom and then suffer in many ways. We start to live in compromises and that are not good for anyone. A suffering man cannot provide health to somebody. So spirituality is actually a revolution against the social conditioning implanted within us and the physical tendencies (that keeps us in bondage, degrade us). Spirituality teaches us that what we are today need not be our final truth means destination. Man has choices and he can be as bad as Hitler and as good as buddha. Spirituality says you should not stop here, you have to move, you should move, you can be much better and the concept of atma in vedanta is also comes from this. Atma is basically a continuous process of moving towards betterment and it is imagined that the highest or best or final version of you is atma. By the way there is no end when you can say that this is my highest version that's why I said atma is a concept which is very useful. So spirituality is basically for the freedom. It is a revolution in oneself. If you go through buddha and saint kabir and other sages like them then you will know that they also talk of the same thing. But the society doesn't have real spirituality. They have beliefs and superstitions. Even they oppose real sages. Many of babas and so called gurus are fools. They are actually rascals. They are criminals of humanity. They should be in jail. They are businessmen. All are running behind money, fame, position. In these matters we should listen to saint kabir. He is the best guide. The last century philosopher Jiddu krishnamurti also taught the same. हद हद करते सब गए, बेहद गया ना कोय। अनहद के मैदान में, रहा कबीरा सोय।। True spirituality is very simple and obvious. It is for us so that we can live in true sense. A life which has dignity, greatness, love, compassion and freedom. The best version of you is within you as a possibility. In saint Kabir's language कस्तूरी कुंडल बसे, मृग ढूंढे बन माही। ऐसे घट घट राम है, दुनिया जानत नाही।। When saint kabir say ram then he doesn't mean the king ram of ayodhya but he is talking of atma means the possibility within you.

There are 4 mahavkya which proves study of self is study of supreme. 1 aham brahmasmi 2 tat tvam asi (you are the one you are looking for) 3 Aham atma brahm (the self is Brahm) 4 prajnanam Brahm (Consciousness is Brahm) It proves the study of self lead us to the supreme Brahm which resides in all of us. It is just because of our senses and mind we don't know our real self. Once we control both we can realise it. It's a long process like the creation of the universe was a long process but it is the real truth. once you start walking on the path of brahm you will see changes in yourself but it's a very Hard path one in a billions think of it. Most of them lost it in the way but those who continue it will get to meet their real self. Apart from it you can see the teachings of mahavir, Kabir, Nanak and many they all say Tera Sai tujh me hai jhank sake to jhank So most probably you can say it's a journey of aatma to parmatma
