I am so happy to hear that both songs - especially this song - is a hit in Orissa! I am from Kerala and am unfortunate that Rafi Saab did not sing a song in Malayalam... Talat Saab, Manna Da, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle have all sung in Malayalam. Kishoreda sung flawlessly. Talat Saab's song is a high-class song that, once you hear, you cannot forget. Manna Da's one song is eternal, while the other song is sung in a chorus. I do not have much to say about Lataji or Ashaji's songs... I have heard that Rafi Saab was approached for a song, but he did not accept, on hearing the song, since the many words were too difficult for him to pronounce. I do not know if this is true! He was an exceptional human being. People loves money and grabs whatever they can get from other end. But he probably would have sing free for everyone as he never understood the value of money. It is his brother in law Zahir who saved him from greedy people exploitation. I think he even did not know how much money he earned from each song or day or every month from singing or live show.. But we can assume atleast few hundred thousand rupee a month (which would be many many crores in today's value) but most of them he gave away to charity or donations or helping others.. In fact I heard the Interview of Mr. Hameed's son that his father use to tell him sing for humanity not for money and he remembered his mentors advise till his last day..
