कहानी 2001 में इंग्लैंड के भारत दौरे के 3-3 से हार के बाद शुरू होती है
3-1 से पिछडने के बावजूड इंग्लैंड सिरीज ड्रॉ करवाने में काम्याब हो गया
इसके साथ ही फ्लिंटॉफ ने गांगुली के हाथों हुए अपमान का बदला भी ले लिया था
लेकीन ये तो बस इस कहानी की शुर्वात थी
६ महिने बाद होनेवा ले NatWest सिरीज में ये दोनो टीम्स फिर एक बार भिडने वाली थी
जिम्बाब्वे पर शर्मनाक जीत और वेस्ट इंडीज में वेस्टइंडीज के खिलाफ ऐतिहासिक जीत के बाद भारत अपने प्रतिद्वांधी के लिये तैयार था
जबकि इंग्लैंड न्यूजीलैंड में सिरीज ड्रॉ और श्रीलंका को करीब करीब व्हाईट वॉश करके आया था
तो आनेवाली सिरीज...बडी ही घमासान होने वाली थी
इंग्लंड पेहला मॅच जीत गयी पर अग्ले ही मॅच में भारत के हा तो एक करारी हार
ऊस जीत के बाद भारत ग्रुप stage ke अंतिम मॅचेस तक अपराजित रहा....पर इस्के बावजूद वो सिरीज जीतने के लिये बुकीज फेवरेट नही था
