Alok Da may be we can agree to disagree, America i felt more freedom as a women than in India, I understand its very mechanical and dark here. I always enjoyed equality of gender here. There are some many national parks preserved so well thanks to John Muir. You should visit yosemite national park very beautiful , so many beautiful spaces. I also agree the dark side to the system here. No place is great where women are disrespected.
I am with you as far as physical beauty and the organization of material life is concerned. I am not so sure about the women equality and respect. At the risk of sounding conservative, I have always felt that the use of women for advertisement, pornography, promotion of sales etc are far from respecting them. So too empowerment is not merely having equal opportunities for job and studies but to realise the highest inner and spiritual potential. Freedom too is not licentiousness but the capacity to make the right choices. I doubt if any nation is near this ideal. India has the knowledge but is yet to act upon it. America lacks the knowledge but is not only unwilling to learn but projects itself as the champion and spearhead of civilizational values. This arrogance combined with actual military, scientific and economic power with the actual capacity and will to meddle actively into the affairs of other countries makes a dangerous situation. Of course the life of the average citizen is unaffected as each is busy in the hell of pleasures and the dreamland of money and material comforts but I am not sure it is not impoverishing the new generation. Of course if America could use her enormous resources that she has been blessed with it would be a real boon for earth to help realise the New Creation in outer life. But so far, barring few individuals, the general state doesn't seem very promising. Yes we can agree to disagree but my impression of its inner life getting impoverished and its soul stifling under the weight of machinery was quite concrete. And I say this because I do feel that America is a special land and has a very special role to play but so far it has been aligning with forces inimical to the world, largely out of selfish interest. It is still a great land no doubt but the great have a greater responsibility to undertake with regard to making this world a beautiful place.
