Lightning Protection System (LPS) Earthing: If your location is prone to lightning, a dedicated earthing system should be installed for the lightning arrester. 2. Number of Earth Pits For a 17 kW installation, typically 3 to 4 earthing pits are recommended: One for DC earthing One for AC earthing One for lightning protection (if needed) One extra as a backup or for the neutral of the system (if applicable) Each earthing pit should be connected via a separate earth wire to ensure redundancy and effective fault management. 3. Earthing Resistance The resistance of each earthing pit should ideally be less than 1 ohm. However, many standards accept up to 5 ohms in certain conditions. It's crucial to measure the earth resistance regularly to ensure it remains within the acceptable range. 4. Materials and Methods Use Copper-bonded rods or GI (Galvanized Iron) rods for the earth electrodes.
