उत्तर प्रदेश के ग़ाज़ीपुर ज़िले के रहने वाले राम भजन राय कई साल से औषधीय फसलों की खेती कर रहे हैं। एक ऐसा ही औषधीय पौधा है, ब्राह्मी। ये पौधा क्या है? कैसे इसकी खेती होती है? कहाँ इसका इस्तेमाल होता है? किसान ऑफ़ इंडिया ने राम भजन राय से ब्राह्मी की खेती को लेकर ख़ास बातचीत की।
राम भजन राय ने बताया कि उन्होंने कोरोना काल में ब्राह्मी की खेती की शुरुआत की। वो पहले आलू की खेती भी किया करते थे, लेकिन उसमें उतना लाभ नहीं हो पाता था। इसके अलावा, कई और पारंपरिक फसलें जैसे गेहूं और धान की फसल भी लिया करते थे। उन्हें औषधीय पौधों की जानकारी पहले से थी। इसमें रुझान भी था तो उन्होंने कोरोना के समय ब्राह्मी की खेती करने का फैसला किया।
राम भजन राय करीबन 4 एकड़ क्षेत्र पर ब्राह्मी की खेती कर रहे हैं। धान की तरह ही ब्राह्मी की खेती की जाती है। नर्सरी में पौध तैयार किए जाते हैं। फिर पहले से तैयार खेत में इन पौधों को रोप दिया जाता है।
