Samar Bhai nice idea for ups or constant load situation and can be a good deep cycle battery, in case of car a lot of amps are needed for starter motor which may kick in BMS internal protection on longer term usage also users should be advised to be extremely careful while soldering these to avoid un extinguishable fire.

U did well but You are handling Li ion cell incorrectly. I will highly recommend you to use spacers other wise incase of scratch of plastic rap you will short the cell and it will act like a bomb

Excellent efforts and explanation but you missed spacers which are equally important and Nickel plates to join terminals instead of copper wire. Lastly there should be enough isolation or packing for battery and ventilation for BMS you may add fins. This affects battery performance in different thermal conditions. Especially not recommending this battery for CARS.

You mentioned that this battery cost is 500/- but I found these batteries are expensive on online approach 100/- per cell. So to make 40Ah we need atleast 40 batteries of 1000mah each which cost would be around 2-3k

Bro. He is not buying new batteries If you buy it will cost atleast 2300 but that will lasts longer forever. Don't worry. But you need to do ine thing more. Put thin and hard plastic Between the row of the cells or else it will explode if accidentally got short circuit.

Car manufacturers can do it right, ask your self why they don't do it. Because lithium battery is a pocket bomb we don't know when it will blast. In banglore we have Sunday bazzar. they will sell all types of used products. I bought 10 laptop battery for 500. Made similar battery pack just like yours with bms board and everything.. When charging it suddenly one battery exploded.

Li-ion cells are not suitable for these applications like extreme hot environment under the car hood. Incase that cheap BMS fails, that battery will explode 🔥. Thats why brands use lead acid in this case.

Bro.. it's not working on inverter and car. Not even on scooty. For inverter usage : voltage should be between 12 to 14 v. But this lithium pack gives only 11.1 to 11.24 v on load. So, inverter sense that the battery voltage is low and cutting the supply from lithium battery pack. For bike or car usage : voltages can be vary but the instantaneous current is high (20 to 200 A) in lead acid to run a self motor. Where as this Lithium ion battery pack stop working with sudden change in current. BMS limits the current and protect the battery pack from damge. So, plz don't make these kinds of battery packs at home for car or inverter purpose. You can use it in solar system to charge and discharge with low load like LED street lights etc.

This small difference will increase in some running cycles. Some batteries will charge half and some will charged full but output voltage will show 12volts (full) at its positive and negative terminal till breakdown of this complete battery unit. .... How can get rid of this problem?* 😕 *Charger should be connected with each battery for long life and this is the right way actually.* 🙂

Great build. These things are bit risky to Just rely on strength of soldering. Use spacers and kapton tape. And nickel strips. Especially on moving vehicles this can catch fire by short circuit. Take care.

Good idea and efforts. 1. What is the Amp rating of each cell? 2. Are all the cells matched for their internal resistance? 3. How does the charging circuit account for any cell-array having one or more cells inactive/broken? Because they will end up having different Volt/Amp parameters. 4. What is the normal and burst charging voltage and current? 5. Are these Ni-Cd or Li-ion or Li-Poly cells? 6. What is the normal and burst discharge rate in Amp? Unless someone can answer these questions, I would recommend not to try this at home without proper knowledge. This is not only dangerous but can kill you faster than Corona Virus! Be safe! 🙏

Agree, And I must say these batteries are not lifetime. Every battery has some life depending upon the cycles of that battery. May be 4 to 7 Years (may be some more) life as in the case of dry batteries. Plus these dry batteries are costly as compared to lead acid. Hence, the total cost somehow is comparable of both of these battery types.
