It is heart touching well composed and nicely choreographe.it was one of the most costly film of those dates, called Pakija.we had been leaving Togatherer for hundreds of years peacefully..we met to dooms day when we got indepent in the year 1947., Out country was divided in two country on the basis of relegio.we can not forget this heart breaking fusion.it is said some 6 to 1o lakh people were killed in communal riots.right winger , Hindu are again trying to spread hates .

I was in sixth class when this great movie was released and all the children of my age in my locality used to listen the melodious songs on the radio. What a movie was produced and directed by Kamal Amrohi, really very heart touching. Even today the songs of the movie are the great example of good lyrics.

50s,60s and mid 70s was the golden era. Music director to look for are many with diverse styles and influences, so are the lyricists ..the one for this movie is ghulam muhammad and i dont know much about his work. You can start with works of music directors like madanmohan, shankar jaikisan, naushad , s.d burman , o p nayyar , jaydev, c ramchandra and a bit western fusionist r d burman ...each name here is worth doing a phd . I dont understand a word of this song, but whatnever I hear, specially the chorus , I begin to cry. This get in to my soul and deep in my emotions, this is one of the most beautiful songs ever composed and sing. I like and comment a lot of old hindi and tamil songs, but this one is special. I cant describe how I feel when I hear the lyrics, but is a sensation of instantly Transcedence, as much as happiness, deep love and deep surrender. JOSHUA I am Mexican American. I feel that 100% These movies strongly made me believe in past lives. I found this song 7 years ago. Funny thing is I used to have dreams about this song from the Sintar to the bells and drums before I found it. And when I did I never understood what she was saying but I knew she was talking about her lover and crossing paths again. When I watched the movie I cried so much and idk why. Meena Kumari really pulled my heart strings I really fell in love with her as a person and it broke my heart that due to her severe drinking she suffered from heart problems which is why her dance number is sitting down and the rest of the movie is calm she couldn’t exert herself. But the director knew this movie was for her.

You are so damn right. I opened Wikipedia and read about him. He lived worked and later died in India. In fact his son was also born in India. As a German he must have had a huge effect on Hindi movies cinematography and it is obvious in this song. I used to appreciate camera work in this song but never realised that a German was behind this excellent camera work.
