Chitrakoot is a famous religious and tourist destination, located on the border of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. There are many places of Ramayana period here, such as Kamadgiri Parikrama, Gupt Godavari Cave, Ram Ghat, Sati Anasuya Temple, Hanuman Dhara, Janaki Kund, Sphatik Shila etc., which are famous for their religious importance as well as natural beauty. . It is here that Maharishi Valmiki's unique poetic work Ramayana was written.

Kamadgiri: This is a significant pilgrimage site in Chitrakoot. It's believed that Lord Rama, along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana, spent considerable time here during their exile. The entire hill is circumambulated by pilgrims.
Ramghat: Situated on the banks of River Mandakini, Ramghat is a sacred spot where pilgrims take a dip in the holy waters. It's believed that the gods themselves descend to bathe here during the month of Kartik (October-November).
Bharat Milap Mandir: This temple commemorates the reunion of Lord Rama with his younger brother Bharata. The spot is believed to be where Bharata met Lord Rama to persuade him to return to Ayodhya and assume the throne.
Sati Anusuya Ashram: It's believed that Sati Anusuya, wife of Sage Atri, lived here. The ashram is surrounded by serene natural beauty and offers a peaceful environment for meditation and reflection.
Janaki Kund: This is a small pond believed to be the bathing spot of Sita, wife of Lord Rama, during their exile. The water of this pond is considered holy.
Hanuman Dhara: Located atop a hill, this is a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It's believed that Hanuman visited this spot to cool down after setting fire to Lanka. Devotees climb around 360 steps to reach the temple.
Gupt Godavari: This is a cave temple dedicated to Lord Rama and Lord Shiva. Inside the cave, there's a pair of footprints believed to be those of Lord Rama. The cave has a natural spring that flows out from a small opening, reminiscent of the Godavari River.
Sphatik Shila: It's believed to be the place where Lord Rama and Sita sat and watched the sunset. The place offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills and the Mandakini River.
