Im lingayat and prod to be Hindu. Lingayat is part of Hindu religion. Lingayat or veershiav Lingayat can't be a religion. Because it's a संप्रदाय who worships almighty Shiva as primordial deity.

अप्रतिम विश्लेषण विश्वगुरु बसवण्णा ब्राम्हण नही थे वे कम्मकुळ यांनी कुणबी यांनी किसान के कुल के थे कर्नाटक मे बेळगाव के नजदीक अर्जुनवाडके शिलालेख मे उनाका कुल कम्मेकुळ लिखा है. बाकी का विश्लेषण बहुत बढिया. गुरु बसवण्णा इनकी दुसरी पत्नी माता निलम्मा ये राजा बिज्जळ की बेहेन थी. राजा बिज्जळ मंगळवेढा राज्य से राज्य करते थे आज महाराष्ट्र मे सोलापूर जिल्हे मे एक तालुका तहसील है. वहांपर आज भी बिज्जल का किलाह है. बादमे वे अपने मामा चालुक्य के राज हतिया ली और बसवकल्ल्याण राजधानी मे आ गये.

One important thing missed - Actually Basavanna gave more importance to Work, job & social activities. So he urged people not go to temples. If at all you want to worship, do it in your hand.
