I think food restrictions are present in all religions. We keep highlighting only one part of the story. A Muslim will never eat non halal food and that is never mocked or looked down upon. A Muslim or a jew will never consume from the utensils in which pork has been prepared or served. Dietary restriction are present in all religions and all of them have a sense of purity and pollution attached. We have always seen this idea to be attached only with Hinduism but the fact is that purity and pollution is a notion that guides food intake in most religions

What food you eat is an external thing and shouldn't actually have anything to do with religion. What goes in, is not as important as what comes out of you. If love and peace comes out of you, that good religion. If hatred and anger comes out of you, that's the devil's religion. Food is just an external and no big deal ought to be made of it.

What is shown in the movie is not a case of food restriction. If you think it is, it's because your minds is polluted. If it is one sided, then what about the case of taxi. What is the point for not taking taxi just because driver is muslim? Movie exposes untouchability presents in our society.

OMG! Nana Patekar's scene was heart touching. Dekhne par maine idea lagaya tha ki uski wife ki death ho chuki hain, yeh baat woh khud bolegi. Lekin jis tarah se dikhaya bht accha laga. Shabana Azmi wale story mein bhi thoda andaja sahi nikla. Mujhe laga tha ki Shabana ji Nasiruddin ji ke hisse se hi khayega. Baad mein pata chalne par afsos karega. Aur woh jo Muslim ke hathon se nahi khayega, jhootha ho jayega chune par, yeh sab accha nahi lagta. Lekin afsos ki baat yeh hain ki aaj bhi bht jagaho mein yeh bhedbhaav dikhai deta hain.

My neighbours share the same compound wall with us i remember the aunty used to send his son to our home,who is physically and mentally very weak doctors suggested at least to include eggs in his diet. What nonsense? Discrimination is a separate thing, but it exists in all religions. As a proud Hindu, i respect Islam and other religions, but i cannot eat or share our food. Many will proclaim me casteist or even Brahmin and think that i don't dine with all other Hindu castes, but its not so. I won't do the same with other Hindu castes for obvious reasons. However, religion is a wholly different thing. Before calling me names, will Muslims ever accept Kafirs as brothers? They cannot even think of going beyond their Ummah. Will Christians ever accept Heathens as brothers? They cannot even think of going beyond their Christendom. And they truly respect their Quran and Bible, for which i respect their ingenuity. Call me whatever names, but there is a certain decorum to be followed in everything. There is a reason, why Hinduism is a totally separate religion from these 2 religions, both in origins and purpose. I have my own bias, yes i have both muslim and Christian friends, but you need not stoop to eat someone's leftovers, that too from a totally different culture (Arabic/Hebrew-Latin). Maintaining your boundaries is the main thing, Dining together at most would do, but no sharing-licking ew. Thats gross and uncultured.
