Ruchi: (comfortably) Maaji, I got a call from my mother, she was saying that after marriage, a girl goes to her parents' house once, so tomorrow my parents are coming to pick me up.
Asha (smiling): Yes daughter-in-law, if it is okay then you call them and tell them to stay for a day or two before leaving.
Ruchi (happy): Okay Maaji, then I will pack my stuff.
Narration: Ruchi becomes very happy on hearing about going to her parents' house and starts packing her stuff, while on the other hand Asha goes to her elder daughter-in-law Anita and tells her.
Asha: (normal) Anita bahu, tomorrow Ruchi bahu's parents are coming, so you prepare something good to eat.
Anita (smiling): Maaji, you tell me what to prepare for them, and you will see that Ruchi's parents will leave from here laughing and making me laugh, I will take very good care of them.
Narration: Anita was an obedient and cultured daughter-in-law. She never ignored any of her mother-in-law's requests and did all her work smilingly. Next day, Ruchi's parents come to Asha's house as guests. Seeing Ruchi's parents, Asha says to them.
Asha: (smiling)! Hey Sumitra sister and Suresh bhai sahab, you both have come here alone, you should have come with your son.
Sumitra: (comfortably)! Sister, we had thought of sending only our son, but our son said that I will go only if you all come, so we came, and he is on the way, he is coming with some of his friends.
Asha: (normal) Hey, this is a very good thing, okay, give me 2 minutes, I will get food prepared for you. You have come from such a long journey, you must be hungry.
Sumitra (hesitating): That is true sister, but what we were saying was that once my son Nikhil comes, then we all would have dinner together.
Asha: (normal) Yes yes sister, why not, as you feel, till then I will call daughter-in-law Ruchi, you all can sit and talk.
Narration: Saying this, Asha makes Ruchi sit with her parents and herself goes to her elder daughter-in-law Anita, where Anita is cooking food for the guests who have come to the house.
Asha (distressed): Daughter-in-law, I thought that Samdhi and Samdhan are coming alone, but now I came to know that their son Nikhil is coming with some of his friends, so do one thing, cook a little more food.
Anita: (comfortably) But Maaji, I have cooked food, but it is okay, if you are saying so, then it is okay, I will cook something else also.
Asha: (normal) Yes bahu, if I had known, I would have told you earlier but I myself have come to know now.
Anita: (laughs) It's okay mother, how many people will Nikhil bring with his friends to his sister's in-laws' place, he can't bring more than that.
Narration: Anita cooks food again thinking that there will be only a few guests but in a short while Nikhil comes home with his five friends, Anita is surprised to see so many guests in the house and tells her mother-in-law in private.
Anita (angry): Mother, this is our house, not a Dharamshala, he has brought so many of his friends here, have these people decided to settle here..?
Asha: (upset) I don't know daughter-in-law, but what can we do now, guests have come to the house, we have to respect them.
Anita: (upset) But Maaji I did not cook for so many guests, now I have to cook again, please tell Ruchi to help me a little, she can get some work done till she is not leaving.
Asha: Yes daughter in law, I will send the younger daughter in law to you right now.
Narration: Now Asha goes to Ruchi and tells her to go to Anita, but Ruchi after coming to Anita does not help her in her work, instead she increases her work.
Ruchi: (regretfully) Didi you are handling all the work alone, I want to help you, but my family has come here, I have to sit with them, and one more thing, make some Chinese food for my brother, my brother and all his friends eat very little home food and I do not want them to go home and say that my in-laws did not feed them anything.
Anita: But Ruchi.
Ruchi: (making excuses): Well Didi, Nikhil bhai is calling me, maybe Bua ji has called me, I will talk to Bua ji and come back.
Narration: Ruchi leaves from there after saying this, now poor Anita cooks food for everyone alone, this way the whole day passes and at night alone Anita cooks food for her family as well as her sister-in-law's parents and then Ruchi's father Suresh says to Asha and her whole family.
Suresh: (happy) Well we felt very good coming here and that's why we have thought that when we have come to such a good city like Mumbai..l
