**wrong concept** being taught here, First of all the supply given to single phase induction motor is AC and not DC, so the matter of charging the capacitor is out of question here. Secondly the single phase induction motor is non self starting since there is no rotating magnetic field set up by a single phase supply. Thirdly the main reason why is the capacitor connected is because to create 2 phase (capacitor is leading power factor) and hence there is rotating magnetic field generated because of this 2 phasing. This is the reason why capacitor is connected. Please be informed about the right concept

Role of capacitor is to generate rotating magnetic field inside induction motor. There are two winding in stator one is directly connected to ac supply and other is connected in series with capacitor. capacitor creates 90 degree phase shift thus creates a rotating magnetic field. Without capacitor motor will not rotate by its own. If we try to rotate it manually at starting it can rotate in both clockwise and anticlockwise direction. It will not rotate in specific direction. You are teaching wrong concept. condensor or Capicator is used to create phase difference between starting and running windings. The phase difference creates opposite magnetic poles in starting and running windings. That generate rotating magnetic field which rotates the FAN.

Khan ji your explantion for fan running is not 100% correct partially correct . The true working is Fan is a single phase induction motor but single induction motor need at least two phase voltage to run , so the capacitor creats second phase to the Fan motor.
