भारताच्या उद्योग क्षेत्रातील बापमाणूस, प्रसिद्ध उद्योगपती रतन टाटा यांचं नि झालं आहे. रतन टाटा यांना रविवारी (6 ऑक्टोबर) रात्री उशिरा साडेबारा ते एक वाजेच्या दरम्यान रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आलं होतं. रतन टाटा यांना रक्तदाबाचा त्रास जाणवू लागल्याने ब्रीच कँडी रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आलं होतं. रतन टाटा यांना रुग्णालयात दाखल करण्यात आल्यानंतर टाटा यांनी सोमवारी (7 ऑक्टोबर) दुपारी साडेबारा वाजेच्या सुमारास स्वत: ट्विट करत आपल्या प्रकृतीची मीहिती दिली होती. “माझ्या प्रकृतीविषयी अफवा पसरली आहे. पण माझे वय लक्षात घेता आणि सध्याची माझी प्रकृती पाहता माझ्या काही वैद्यकीय तपासण्या केल्या जात आहेत. त्यामुळे काळजी करण्यासारखं कोणतेही कारण नाही”, असं रतन टाटा म्हणाले होते.
रतन टाटा यांचा जन्म 28 डिसेंबर 1937 रोजी झाला होता. त्यांचं नाव भारताच्या उद्योग क्षेत्रात अभिमानाने घेतलं जातं. रतन टाटा यांनी फक्त उद्योग क्षेत्रात नाव कमवलं नाही तर त्यांनी माणसं जपली. को\ रोना काळात देशावर मोठं संकट कोसळलं होतं. त्यावेळी रतन टाटा यांनी आपल्या हॉटेल्स राज्य सरकारला रुग्णांना क्वारंटाईन करण्यासाठी मोफत दिलं होतं. त्यांच्या या मदतीमुळे राज्यातील कोट्यवधी नागरिकांना मोठी मदत झाली होती. रतन टाटा यांच्याकडे एक खरे देशभक्त म्हणून पाहिलं जायचं. त्यांच्याकडून प्रचंड सामाजिक कार्यदेखील झालं. याशिवाय त्यांनी टाटा ग्रुपच्या विविध कंपन्यांना यशाच्या सर्वोच्च शिखरावरही पोहोचवलं. त्यामुळे रतन टाटा यांचं नाव उद्योग क्षेत्रासोबतच सर्वसामान्यांमध्येदेखील आदराने घेतलं जातं. अशा या दिग्गज उद्योगपतीचं न झाल्याने देशभरात हळहळ व्यक्त केली जात आहे.
रतन टाटा यांचे वडील जेआरडी टाटा यांनी 1991 मध्ये टाटा सन्सचे अध्यक्षपद सोडले आणि त्यांचा उत्तराधिकारी म्हणून रतन टाटा यांना नियुक्त केलं होतं. रतन टाटा यांना 1991 मध्ये टाटा सन्सच्या अध्यक्षपदाची जबाबदारी मिळाल्यानंतर उपकंपन्यांच्या प्रमुखांकडून तीव्र प्रतिकाराचा सामना करावा लागला होता. त्या सर्व गोष्टींचा प्रतिकार करत टाटा यांनी सर्वांचे हित जपत काम केलं. सर्वांची मने जिंकली. रतन टाटा यांनी 2012 मध्ये अध्यक्षपदाचा राजीनामा दिला.
