9 ton idol suspended in air
Review of Jintur Neminath Jain Temple
Reviewed 21 December 2015
If one finds interest in such things of the past, this is definitely a place to arouse your curiosities. Amongst other interesting idols of worship and archived scriptures, there is a 9 ton idol (thats what they estimate it to be) that appears to be suspended in air. Apparently they have not yet found any magnetic field to scientifically justify how this may have been achieved.

About Jintur :
This Kshetra is situated in sub hills of Sahyadri Mountains full of natural beauty in area of Marathvada in Parabhani District 3 km away from Jintur. There are two hills named Nemgiri & Chandragiri are famous in the world for their ancient artistic & miraculous Jain Cave Temples & Chaityalayas.
In ancient times this area was famous as Jainpur, this was developed in the time of Emperor, Amogh Varsha of Rashtrakut Family. Later in the middle period of Indian History, this was destroyed by invaders, and its name was changed to Jintur, the current name. At that time 300 Jain families & 14 Jain Temples were here. Today two temples out of them only are present.
Letter in the year 1609 A.D. this Kshetra was reconstructed and developed by Shri Veer Sangavi of Bagherwal Cast. It is said that Samavsharan of Lord Mahaveer came here and the Last Shrut Kevali Acharya Bhadrabahu with his 12000 scholars including Chandragupt Maurya (The great emperor of ancient India) and the famous idol of Lord Parsvanath was also installed by them, this idol is staying in the space 3 inches high from surface without any support, so this is called Antariksha Parsvanath. According to archaeologists idols of this Kshetra are old about 1000 years or more.
Atishaya - At Nemgiri Hill, in Cave No. 5 miraculous idol of Lord Antariksha Parsvanath is very wonderful staying in the space 3 inches high from surface. It is said that desires of pilgrims are materialized after prayers & worships here. King Kobra often comes here and gods of heaven also come here for worships.
Main Temple & Idol :
Nemgiri Hill - Here are 7 Cave Temples, among them in 4th Cave, a very beautiful idol of Lord Neminath (The 22nd Teerthankar) in cross legged seating posture is installed 7.5 feet in height. In 5th Cave idol of Antariksha Parsvanath is a must to see, 6.5 feet in height with nine serpent hoods over head, really a wonder of the world.
Chandragiri Hill - A Choubeesee carved on a flat rock is very artistic here, that includes great standing idols of Lord Shantinath, Kunthunath & Arahnath and this was installed in V.S. 1665.
Temple Kind of:

In first cave of Nemgiri, an attractive idol of Lord Mahaveer in cross legged seating posture is installed, 3.5 feet in height. This was installed in V.S. 1676. Ancient feet images of Acharya Bhadrabahu are also here attractive pilgrims.
In second cave there is an ancient idol of Lord Adinath in state of meditation & penance. In third cave there is an attractive idol of Lord Shantinath, 6 feet in height in cross legged seating posture. Peace is felt here really.
In sixth cave there is an ancient idol in standing posture with four heads in four directions, seams the part of Manstambha (Column of dignity).
In seventh cave there is a wonderful very artistic standing idol of Lord Bahubali, decorated with creepers and serpent hoods on both shoulders, really a peace of art. Its height is 5.5 feet. There are 2 old temples in Jintur city, old & ancient idols of the temples ruined by invaders are placed here. In one temple idol of goddess Padmawati with four arms decorated with ornaments looks very beautiful. A standing idol of Lord Parsvanath 3 feet 10 inches in height is also here.
