I've been to Meghalaya. I call it world's most beautiful places on Earth. Even Nat Geo does too. I like the self reliance & natural beauty. I've never seen so much women working in the night in the remotest part of our country. I had awesome experience in Meghalaya. & I've been to khasi & had interaction with awesome people of that place.

I visited them in 2015. They are very nice. Visit Shilong, Cherapunji... so beautiful places in India.

Khasi culture is really rich, it should be spread all across the world. When the old lady said "it's not a harm to be women in khasi community", it almost startled me Beacause I always thought being girl is tough and being girl in India is toughest but I was not knowing about this community. Know I can say that there is a place in India where womens are respected more than men's and even they are head of there family.. 🇮🇳 I want to visit and live for days in this community..

ये सही भी है, हमारे समाज में भी देखा जाए तो महिला ही मुखिया होती हैं। पर शायद हम सब ये मानने को तैयार नहीं, और ये सही नहीं है। मैं समझता हूं कि एक महिला अपने परिवार को पुरुष से बैहैतर समझती है। और ये घर के पुरुषों को नहीं भाता है।

Not only Khasi tribe,the Garo tribe of Meghalaya also follows matrilineal society. Northeast Indian states are the only states in India where there is no dowry system,honour killings etc..I am proud to be an assamese and part of northeast India.

Ya I see this before in a documentary and I'm very glad that we have great cultural with lot of diversity. Incredible India 🇮🇳

I too have visted Shillong and found the Matriarchy system very strong . Atleast in one state state of India women have power and a respectable position. I wish other states should too learn the benefits of Matriarchy system. 👸✌

आजतक स्त्रियों पर जितने भी अत्याचार हुए हैं, उसका सबसे बड़ा कारण है, लड़कियों की मां का घर छोड़कर जाना, मतलब बिदाई। लड़के के घर में लड़कियां एकदम सुरक्षित नहीं होती।। उसे हर चीज में सहन होता है, कोई आजादी नहीं, लड़के के घर में उसका अपना सिर्फ पति ही होता है, अगर ओ भी स्वार्थी निकलता है, फिर तो जिंदगी भर स्त्री का जीना मुहाल हो जाता है, ओ अपने माँ पापा को कुछ नहीं बोल पाती हैं, क्योंकि सदियों से ये लड़की के मन मे डाल दिया गया है, कि माँ के घर से बिदाई और लड़के के घर से अर्थी निकलती है। लड़की अगर लड़के के घरवाले के खिलाफ कुछ बोलती भी है तो उसे ही बदनाम किया जाता है, कि लड़की अच्छी नहीं है। लड़की को किसी का साथ नहीं मिलता, जबकि लड़के को उसकी माँ, बहन, उसका पूरा परिवार साथ देता है। पता है क्यों , क्योंकि लड़का कमाऊ पुत्र होता है, उसे वंश को आगे बढ़ाने वाला कहा जाता है, मुँह में आग देनेवाला कहा जाता है। इतनी value अगर लड़के को मिलेगी तो उसका तो घमंड रहेगा ही। फिर ओ पूत चाहे जितना भी चरित्र का गन्दा हो , उसे कोई किसी का डर नहीं। मेरा प्रश्न है ? सिर्फ लड़की का कन्यादान क्यों होता है ? लड़के का क्यों नहीं ? स्त्रियों पर हो रहे सारे अत्याचारों का यही जड़ है ? जड़ खत्म सब खत्म।

भारतीय समाज में काफ़ी हद तक पुरूष प्रधान है , ऐसे में मातृ सत्तात्मक संस्कृति भी ये दर्शा रही है कि , पुरूष चाहे कितनी भी बड़े हो ,एक स्त्री के बिना सम्पूर्ण नहीं हैं धन्यवाद् DW इतनी अच्छी संस्कृति के बारे में जानकारी देने के लिए 🙏🙏🙏🙏👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
