The description blurb has 2 noteable errors. First, kerala is NOT grown on a tree but on vines. I know because ive grown the chinese version, and the vines are very similar. Second, although ive seen some use it dried, most recipes ive seen use it FRESH. There is also a topic of discomfort in the video at 2:00, namely using a karai pan made of what appears to be aluminum instead of steel/iron. Aluminum is a technically a toxic heavy metal. Karai pans are great, but auminum should to be banned worldwide from use in cookware, or at the very least require a toxicity warning, esp when preparing acidic foods broths and stews that leech aluminum into the food.
I softened my OP a little - it was a bit too pointy, and bordered on rude. Aluminum cookware is a longstanding hot button topic of mine. I replaced all of mine about 25 years ago, as I got more serious about my cooking along with a tandem inrerest in (among other things) metallurgy. Aluminum cookware is ubiquitous in many developing countries because it is fairly cheap, plentiful, and has a relatively low melting point. What makes it dangerous is that its oxides form easily, but are readily water soluable, and have a toxicity in humans that evokes lead.
