मै पढता था और 11बजे खाना खाने जा रहा था के किसी पहचानवाले ने मुझे आवाज दी और कहा चौबे तेरे रफी साहब नही रहे बे मै सकते मे आ गया और सच कहूं मेरी खाना खानेकी ईचछा मर गयी मै दिन भर सीटी बस मै पागल जैसा घुमता रहा जहां बस ले जाती चला जाता दिमाग जैसे सुनन सा हो गया था उसदिन न मुझे खाना अचछा लगा न मैने पानी पिया ऐसे लग रहा था जैसे कोई अपना सबसे करीबी नही रहा दिनभर भगवान से कहते रहा हे भगवान ये भी कोई उमर है रफी साहब जैसे फरिशते को वापस बुलानेकी ये तो अनयाय है हम दुसरा आवाज का जादुगर कहांसे लायेंगे कब पायेंगे ?

Mohd Rafi Sahab would have been definitely aware that his time has come as he was a very spiritual person, they know in advance. I am writing with conviction as my father also knew two days before that his time has come. When last day he had milk from my hands, I sang Ram bhajan to him keeping his head on my lap while telephonic relatives. He looked very peaceful. It was 7th August 2000. 23 years later today, i find him so close to me. I can feel him but miss him

According to J Omparkash when Rafi sahib was about to leave the studio, he chased Rafi sahib and made a request to record the couplet, his last recording. On watching J Omparkash coming after him, Rafi sahib asked in Punjabi- I have sung any line weing? Then J Omparkash said, your singing was right as always. I want to record the concluding couplet today. On his request,Rafi sahib returned to the studio and recorded the couplet. This information is based upon the interview of J Omparkash in mid 1980s, as I recall.

रफी साहब का समय संगीत के दुनिया के वोह अमूल्य समया था जो शायद हजार सालों में एक बार आए । वोह एक साधारण संगीतकार नहीं थे वोह तो एक ऐसा दुर्लभ हीरा थे जिनका तुलना किसी और से की ही नहीं जा सकती । लगातार ५ दशकों से हर एक युवा संगीतकार रफी साहब को मन में गुरु मान कर चल रहा है । और आगे कई दशकों तक कई युवा संगीतकार उनको ही गुरु मान के चलते रहेंगे ।
