The bird chakori is a female bird mentioned in puranas It's eyes will suddenly become red if it sees any poiso filled cup So in those days kings will rear this bird inpalaces They will have this bird by their sides while eating so that if any enemy has mixed poison in their food the birds eyes will turn red and the king will be saved from a palace coup!! Actually I don't know about this. But there is a saying in shankaracharya verses that chakori bird drinks only the chandani that radiates from the moon. Therefore it makes sense to me that shyam is the moon and shyama is the chakori that enjoys the Chandni radiating from shyam. :)
