श्रावण माह की कावड़ यात्रा की कथा
Mahakal's devotees hold the Kavad Yatra in high esteem. Every year, during the month of Shravan, countless pilgrims embark on this sacred journey, carrying Kavads filled with Ganga water from holy sites back to their villages. This journey is known as the Kavad Yatra.
One such devotee of Mahakal, Bhola Ram, vowed to undertake the longest Kavad Yatra yet, traveling on foot from Haridwar to Baba Vishwanath in Varanasi during the first week of Shravan. This announcement caused a stir in the surrounding villages because Bhola Ram was not physically strong, yet he had made a pledge that would challenge even the most robust devotees. Despite his family's attempts to dissuade him, Bhola Ram remained resolute. He decided to embark on the journey alone, with unwavering faith in Mahakal.
On the morning of his departure, villagers gathered to help Bhola Ram decorate his Kavad, filling it with colorful cloth, flowers, and bells. Encouraged by their support, Bhola Ram set off with a 70 kg Kavad, heavier than his own weight.
Not long into his journey, Mahakal began testing Bhola Ram's resolve. Water started leaking from one of the pots due to a small hole. Despite his best efforts, Bhola Ram couldn't stop the leak. He continued walking, invoking Mahakal's name. Suddenly, he saw a road worker heating tar nearby. Bhola Ram got an idea. He approached the worker, obtained a bit of tar, and sealed the hole in the pot. The leak stopped, and Bhola Ram, grateful, resumed his journey with renewed vigor. His determination strengthened, Bhola Ram's pace quickened as he continued his pilgrimage.
