Even Quinton Tarantino (Director of Reservoir Dogs) has praised this film, he had once said 'of all his movies that have been remade, Kaante is one of the best. Tarantino has even screened Kaante in his new Theatre alongside Reservoir Dogs

It was not an average movie. It was a very different movie, different from regular shit that Indian filmmakers serve in the name of cinema. The film had no heroines, no unnecessary romantic angle - a staple in Indian cinema. The music was superlative. Does one ever realize how difficult it is to give music for such a film, let alone a chartbuster soundtrack. Anand Raaj Anand never got the credit he deserved. And Sanjay Dutt is perennially underrated. His rendition of Rama Re is a 1000 times better than the well marketed Haathi ka Anda laa Besides, Dutt the actor dominated Bachchan in this and other films. Few will notice that. Because it is easier to look at his negative aspects

@@vickym7445 Very true, Sanjay Over shadowed bacchpan in quite a movie they did togather no matter who's character is written better, Sanjay dutt is such a versatile actor.

Be it their better received films like Kaante and Shootout at Lokhanwandala, or atrocities like Hum kisise kam nahin, Deewaar or Aladdin, he put Big B on the backfoot. In Eklavya they cut his role short to keep focus on Big B. Watch the three scenes he is in to know how powerful that character would have turned out had Vinod Chopra worked on it more. Had Dutt got a bit of the brain the likes of Aamir, SRK or Akshay have he would have been the country's biggest star. His charisma, personality and screen presence is unparalleled in Indian cinema. Unfortunately, he is an idiot who's also mostly disinterested in his work.

But I enjoyed kaante more than reservoir dogs...coz reservoir dogs ek point pr aakar bore lagti h but kaante not
