मैं एक हरियाणवी मारवाड़ी हूँ । मेरे दादाजी के पिता हरियाणा से मध्यप्रद्श आ गये थे।। वैसेतो हम बंसल है पर हम बोंदिया लिखते है । जो की हमारा पैतृक गाँव है । हम आज भी बच्चों का मुंडन कराने यही जाते है । बोंद में हमारी हवेली थी जो की कालूराम की हवेली के नाम से जानी जाती थी । हमारे घर में सभी पूजा पाठ पद्धति सभी उन्हीं स्वरूपों में पालन की जाती है । ग्रामीण हरियाना घूमने का बहुत मन करता है । कभी जीवन में मौक़ा लगेगा तो ज़रूर जाऊँगा। बेरी वाली माता के मंदिर जाना होता है । जय माता दी ।

Raids by sikhs and Marathas during 1700s were basically targeted on muslim nawabs zamindars or on Rajput clans that sided with Mughals against punjab or central India. Sikhs never destroyed or try to convert hindus. Cow worship was common still it is common practice in sikhs to feed stray cows. Sikhs had greatly contributed to hindu religious places inside the area they controlled. Even gold was donated by sikhs to Kashi vishawanath and many central indian temples

Bhai cultural roots are not confined by any boundaries border regions have same cultural roots as their neighbouring state. Im from Hisar and we do not relate to UP in any sense, even our surnames are similar to Punjabi sikhs and Rajshtani Hindus but not people from UP.

Well he clearly mentions Artisans like Panchal and banias were better off than agricultural castes because they weren't involved in defending the village, khatiks and Dalits were involved in their respective traditional works, and as far as I know, Brahmins largely fall under the agricultural caste as well like Tyagis etc.

Welfare state (if it indeed can be called so) in Haryana may have been a British introduction but it is not so in other parts of India. Throughout history there have been some or other regimes in India who have shown responsibility towards improving the lot of the people. Our scriptures bear eminent testimony to this. Be it Sri Rama's injunctions to Bharat when they met at Chitrakut on the responsibility of a ruler or that of Bhishma to Yudhishthira in Shanti Parva or Yudhistira himself when Narada visited him in Indraprastha or in Artha Shastra of Kautilya till through Cholas to Chatrapati Shivaji to as late as Peshwa times we have have had socially responsible governance. Marathas may have marauded and looted in other parts of India but in their core region of Maharashtra they established good governance after centuries of misgovernance under Bahmani Sultanates.

With Due respect Col Saab has very distorted knowledge on the History of Sikh Identity separation from Hindus. Before British, Sikhs were not a separate religion from Hindus but Sikhi was a Panth or Samprdaay within Hinduism. Guru Gobind Singhji himself was a Devi Pujak. Please read his compositions of Chandi Charitr and Chandi di Vaar in Bhakti of Devi Chandi
He has mentioned post guru era. Post 1857 war British empire conspired to break the social network of the society. Main culprit was the Jathedar Master Tara Singh aka Master Tara Chand Malhotra who was a British stooge. He conspired with Britishers to shift the Hindu ideals from Har mandir sahab. He leads his followers group to meet the resident commissioner for protesting Hindu ideals must shift being idealism is not the part of the Sikh faith. Being pre- planned conspiracy the resident commissioner accepted the demands and issued the funds for construction of a temple where the Hindu ideals are to be shifted. Durgyana temple was constructed in Amritsar and the the ideals which were placed in the Golden temple by Maharaja Ranjit Singh and the same were shifted. That was the black day of the division of Hindu Sikh brotherhood!
Our one son used to be sent in Hindu army which is A sikh . Sikh is like Arya samaj means hindu religion without Brahmin and moorti pooja. My late mother in western Punjab unfortunately now in Pakistan used to go to temple which was called Dharamshal ( Dharamshala) and in one room Ram Darbar was and Other room had guru Granth saheb Praksh man in it .one Mahant used to be the organiser of it . शिक्षा का अभाव था हरियाणा पंजाब में, गुरू नानक के पंथ प्रचार में हिन्दू का बड़ा बेटा केशधारी बना दिया जाता था, (पंजप्यारे भी हिन्दू ही थे। शिक्षा के अभाव में, और पंथ के प्रति रुझान से ही गुरमुख लिपि अस्तित्व में आई। कालान्तर सिख पन्थ धर्म में बदल दिया गया। पंजाब हरियाणा में शिक्षा का दूसरा प्रसार भी धर्म के रास्ते आर्यसमाज लायी। शिक्षा के अभाव में पन्डित लख्मीचन्द ने ही समाजिक-चेतना व ज्ञान रागनियों व संगीत के माध्यम से जगाया और अनपढ़ों में भी रुचिकर बनाकर जिन्दा रखा। पार्टीशन के बाद आये हिन्दूओं की स्वचछता, खानपान, रहन-सहन को देखकर हरियाणा में भी सुधार कर गया, शिक्षा के प्रति जागरूकता भी तभी बढ़ी। हरियाणा में पढ़ाई लिखाई में इन पंजाबी लोगो का योगदान अभूतपूर्व था। 1966-68 तक हर अध्यापक या तो पंजाबी होता था या आर्यसमाजी। बीमारियों से उबरने व स्वास्थ्य और स्वच्छता में, हरियाणा के अस्तित्व में आने तक अस्पतालों मे सभी नर्सिग लड़कियाँ पंजाबी ही होती थी। हरियाणवी समाज को ऊपर उठाने में इनका योगदान भुलाया नही जा सकता।

Then there were British zaildars , chaudharies and Numberdars … Even if you can just go and research authentic gazetteers , Major towns or villages in Haryana belonged either to the protecting / Ruling seat jatts Jats aheers Ranghars and Rajputs .. Culturally Haryana is also very diverse . It assimilates with culture of bordering state . He also tried to describe Haryana based on continuous JaT inhabited belt which stretches along from Bikaner to western UP. Which is also wrong . In 1854 just 3 years before the 1857 mutiny majority of Hindu subjects were helping and fighting on the British side against the Sikhs in Anglo-Sikh wars. Anglo-Sikh wars happened after the death of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Second reason was that 1857 mutiny was an attempt to re-establish Mughal Raj in India and it was under the leadership of Bahadur Shah Zafar. All petty Hindu rajas accepted his leadership and declared that Mughal Badshah. Sikhs never wanted revival of Mughal power in India.

When these people revolted, then they were killed in mass. UP-Bihar was completely destroyed economically. After 1857 Sikhs became slaves of British. They continued this slavery in British Indian army till 1947. In 1947 British gifted them partition of Punjab for their loyalty. 1 million Punjabis died in Partition, which the British had orchestrated and had no intention of stopping. Even after this the Punjabis and Sikhs didn't stop being slaves. They had learnt that it is better to be a Juti of Gora in return for making some money. So they have been migrating to Britain, US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand since 1947. But Gora is Gora, he knows that Juti is of no use once it gets old. And he has a history of throwing one Juti after another. It is for this reason that Gora still discriminates against Punjabis and Sikhs. Sikhs are often mistaken to be muslims or Taliban, and face the most amount of racist attacks. So you deserve Chhitars and Jutis for still sucking up to the Gora. You are making it about religion when it has nothing to do with it. 1 million Punjabis died in Partition and not one of you fools have the courage to hold Goras responsible for it. Very fascinating genesis of history of punjab,Haryana,U.P around Delhi.Around 200 KM area of Delhi there was no King or Queen ie all people were equal & protected by the landowners of the villages.All had similar cultural history.Many districts of Haryana were integral part of Delhi such as Sonepat,Rohtak,Gurgaon etc etc.
He is completely wrong when he says that there are very less similarities between haryana and punjab. Actually there are a lot of similarities be it dress we wear, food we eat, or our local proverbs, people to people contacts, even a lot of surnames are common such as Sandhu, Sidhu, Dhillon, Mann. Where did the people of Harappa or Mohenjodaro go ?? They just shifted to other places. Jats are indigenous. They are a farming community. They got patronage and strong sense of identity during the British period because they sided with the British in 1857. In many places even before the British, there were some Jat Rajahs. Sikhs under Maharaja Ranjit Singh also had many Jatt Sikhs who were powerful.
@@thesidd19 There are many people in North India with Rohila surname. These people are not muslims though. So it is true that many people migrated to North from north west after Ghazni took over. People who stayed in Afghanistan were forcefully converted. For a very long time, Afghanistan was referred to as Rohilkhand. Even till now some Afghans refer themselves as Rohila Pathan/Pashtun. Many of these muslim pathans migrated during the time of Sultanate and Mughals to western UP. That region also ended up being called Rohilkhand. These muslim Rohillas sided with Ahmed Shah Durrani during the third battle of Panipat. Later on Marathas punished them and made them pay for it. After which these muslim Rohillas/Pathans became irrelevant in Mughal politics.

Col. Sahab is quite knowledgeable but he seems to fan the regional aspirations of a particular community 1. By emphasizing again & again that this particular community didn't get the benefit as of Punjabi community 2. He skirted the counter narrative put up by Arihant on his take that the Khatris shifted during partition are not assimilating themselves with the local communities. Arihant, the last few episodes with Nishant Bhai & subsequently with Col sahab reeks of some political underpinnings. Grand Trunk road was constructed by Sher Shah Suri. Foroz Shah Tuglak developed irrigation systems in this region . Todar Mal under Akbar rule introduced land revenue records . Taxila and Nalanda landmark centres of knowledge were established in India during very early periods of history. British didn't build canals to pay dividends to sikhs but bcoz there was possibility. Punjab rivers were bigger had more water flow but it did not had enough water to have canals to reach haryana region. Even our lower malwa region is water deficit and canal system is not developed there as no water available. Already Indira gandhi canal from ferozpur header punjab goes to Rajasthan that has transformed Rajasthan yet others projects were not viable so Haryana and lower punjab malwa didn't get canal system

On the other hand Marathas in spite of being 85% of the population remained slaves and in the employment of Adil Shahi dynasty. Shivaji bhonsle himself was in the employment of Adil Shahi dynasty. Marathas never ruled up to Peshawar and major part of North. They came and went back in short duration. Remember your Marathas were 85%if the population when they remained slaves. There is Another Theory Regarding Common Surnames. Generally There was a Concept Of Blood Purity among Rajput Caste and Also Outside India among Other Kingdoms. So whenever A Person From Rajput Caste married To woman of another caste mostly Jats And Gujjars their Offsprings are not accepted within Rajput Communities. Hence they are concluded on their Mother 's caste. A Good Example of this Is Bhati's and Tomar's of West UP. Also Barber Community uses Rajput Surnames And Titles like thakur not because they were fighter or landlords but due to their association with Rajput Kings as Servants and Barbers. Also There is The Chauhan Surnames Not Only Among Rajput Jats and Gujjars but also in Barber and Khatik Community.
Thakur title has been in use even before rajput came to India, every caste men had this title basically thakur means head of few villages so it has nothing to with rajputs or any community.

In dwapara yug krishna was called thakur and even nand as they were head of villages and kings but they were Yadav's. Even today in Bihar Brahmins use thakur as they were landlords. Rajputs just adopted it but it's not only for any specific community. Thakur title like choudhary or Rao, Rai, etc irrespective of caste any perso who was head of villages or zamindar was called thakur. Rajput have nothing to with it, just because they are using it more doesn't mean it is "their" surname.
We had same culture from Ganga to Sindhu to a large extent. Regions in this area had their own slightly different dilect etc. But over structure of society at rural level was same and shared same culture. Along with time these dilects became boli...or language.

Governor. He writes in English Translation - you see any Sadhu of howsover little ability to write, IN NORTH India, you will find them with copied Notes or with Bhasha Granth Copy of Vicharsagar.
