I think economics should be introduced earlier in schools so that students (future citizens) can understand the fundamental principle that NOTHING IS FREE. And by that such bright and nuanced ideas could also be understood by the larger common non ecomic background people.
These fools do not understand That giving 10000 to women means 1800 will come back to the government very quickly as GST of 18%, as women have immediate needs so they will spend this money. Then the shopkeeper will buy all the stuff again and as rural sales will increase, the income tax of shop keepers will increase. Shop keeper will buy more from wholesale, finally manufacturer of cosmetics, clothes, shoes etc will get that 10000 , they will invest in stock market their again they will pay tax. Government will get most of the money back as taxes, they give as cash transfer.
5 guarantees of congress have destroyed state economy of Karnataka. Even CM's economic adviser admitted this yesterday. There are growing voices resentment from ruling party MLAs of not getting MLALAD Fund for constituency. They have destroyed KSRTC. In himachal they'll be going to central government with a begging bowl, state finances are going in negative
@siddharthsrivastava31 under bjp, Karnantaka had 13000 crore surplus, siddaramaiya has put it in 4000 crore deficit. Himachal also has gone into big debt under congress.
Truly, knowledgeable video One arrow two targets 1) concept is clear of economy 2) comparative study of relevant subject. Please do more series Really, appreciate sir 🙏
ACCORDING TO ME, LIKE WE ARE TRAINING MANY ENGINEERS AND FINANCIAL EXPERTS LIKE MBA AND CA, WHO ARE WORKING IN INDIA AS WELL AS SERVING IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES , WE SHOULD TRAIN MANY PEOPLE FOR NURSES, LAB ASSISTANTS, CARPENTERS , PLUMBERS, ELECTRICIANS ETC AND OTHER FIELD JOBS AND USE THEM IN INDIA AS WELL SEND THEM TO FOREIGN COUNTRIES TO EARN REMITTANCE... WE SHOULD ONLY FOCUS MANUFACTURING IN AREAS WHERE WE HAVE COMPETITIVE EDGE, OTHERWISE WE WILL LOSE TIME AND CAPITAL...@@somnathghosal6954
Long discussion but mostly idealistic while not discussion actual factors that affects in India those are, the corruption, no accountability, nepotism in public and private sector, inefficient workforce, no transparency in public sector, crony capitalism, very poor enforcement of laws and rule the people.
What an informative session 👏 Why can't they bring middle class people also into ayushmaan bharat? In current society, education & medical services are the biggest burdens on middle class people. If central government can address these two issues then it will be beneficial for them also.
Listening to these podcasts on Vaad is my way of going back in time to Professor Tantri's classes at ISB! ❤ Those delightful 2 hour sessions of understanding the Indian economy inside out 💯
i was eagerly waiting for another podcast with prasanna sir.thanku arihant for the third podcast with him.watching and listening him is huge in knowledge which we don't get elsewhere.hope you do keep bringing him in your studio at regular intervals 😊😊
Generally speaking, india is an Infra starved country and almost any amount of money being spent there is always going to actually improve the things for at least next 15 yrs Infra pe itna jyada nitpicking kyu karna Though Tantri' s point that spending needs to be intelligent is also right on the mark
I echo professor's thoughts on wrong Infra spends, in Madhya Pradesh Govt. has announced airport in Ujjain which would be of no use because there is already an airport in Indore which is only 60 KM away from Ujjain city and it hardly takes 60-70 mins to reach Indore airport from Ujjain. Such infra spends will not do any good.
In Short, there needs to be A LOT of Bureaucratic reforms. PM Modi is one man and just like the rest of us, he too only has 24 hours. 24 hours mein kitna project review kar sakta hai? There will be projects he cannot review during a PRAGATI meeting. Babudom needs to start working together - Modi needs to crackdown on babugiri. PRAGATI meeting se sirf kaam nahi chalega.
You talk as if he has to do everything by himself alone. He could've recruited competent people to manage things. I am sure he did a few, but clearly not enough. It has been 10 years. Is that not enough time to find and groom competent people??
@@ThePolymerisstu can't expect a middle class IAS to fjnd solutions when his aim is how to settle his kids outside with some University 😂 Bcz most bureaucrats working with modi ji r 50+ We need young bureacrats
@@ThePolymerisstSarkari babu apna kaam karega toh PRAGATI meeting ki zaroorat nahi hoti. They don't do their job and PM is made to sit in meetings reviewing projects and scold them to work together.
we need these kind of people in top govt positions... He knows the ground realities, does academic research, understands the nuances... Although I like sanjeev, shamika and bibek, they are too much elitist... Funny how bjp is becoming suit buit ki sarkar day by day
@@arpit2449 blue print..in India what is bigger than that family... He says , means that's final... what u say brother... Khata khat khata khat Taka tak taka tak Who says...
Very good analysis. Bottoms Up approach in infra spending and conditions based dbt/cash transfers are key highlights that something govt can think. And apprenticeship is a need of an hour for growing economy like India. Will help folks with job/income and address concern of industries regarding skills.
Superb podcast..and very unbiased one...a biased economist is a disaster... hope it reaches where it's needed the most ... since noone can be perfect .... government needs to introspect and amend if required.. after all you can't be right always
The existing Modi Govt. Is facing flak for the budget ( from even hard core Modi supporters...especially the middle class). This govt. has done a lot and Modiji must understand that the relationship of the people of this country to him..has become a personal one ... We can cry in front of him because we know he will hear and he will empathise and act. Now if this was the Cong. Govt... We know there is no point... All these years...they milked the middle class too and the middle class just kept getting exploited.
What a informative talk regarding our country's economy. Our politicians should watch such programs before announcing fancy schemes, if they are really concerned about our country's growth.
Maharashtra Govt. announces the visionary 'Ladla Bhai Yojana' for employment generation Youth boys will get the following stipend on passing 12th grade - ₹ 6,000 pm Diploma - ₹ 8,000 pm Graduate- ₹ 10,000 pm They will undergo a 1-year internship to gain valuable work experience that will help them secure relevant employment later
Why is the government of India not focusing on the education system and the medical system? Instead of ayushman yojana with crores and crores of scam in it
R&D has multiple of 10 or more and we spend least on it. Availability of cheap credit is fuel for any economy, which I think govt. should do more. Business should be able to get business loan at 3 %max for 10 years.
VAAD could you give the Links to previous talks with ARHANT PARWARIA. He speaks with amazing clarity. For the first time ever I actually understood the logic behind the Government’s BUDGET. He is superb. May be you could have a special session with him with a content explaining the process of budget allocations and title it BUDGET ECONOMICS FOR DUMMIES! People like me would appreciate that hugely.
Good discussion. However, some of the recommendations are not practical. E.g. Government supported employee training program. If create a program, every employer will want to take advantage of the program for all hires, not just the incremental hires. So the program will cost a lot more. Also, the employers don’t like training employees because the employees can get hired away by competitors once they are trained. I disagree that the infrastructure spend needs to more bottoms up. You need certain level of infrastructure nationwide for development. You can’t attract investment without infrastructure.
His point of view was nice, but the road infrastructure is top most requirement of our country. First of all, our consumption is already much higher than the production, as the evidence is our imports. Improving road infrastructure will enhance inter-connectivity that boost the mitigation of delays, easy access/approach and help meet the required production rates. However, this long term plan is for better future of India, same as Atal ji did by discontinuing the pensions. Yeah, his point is good for the party.
Incentives work for corporations and subsidy works for infrastructure development, all aspects have their pros and cONS but short run and long run should also be considered.
Seems like you didn't hear his point of view - he said that we need sarkari intervention only when there is market failure otherwise free Market policy will do
What an excellent & informative episode? BJP communication specialists seem defocussed in recent times and are not giving proper publicity to the buffoonery schemes of Rahul Gandhi. This episode needs to be given wide publicity. Also needs a counterpoint, who supports khata-khat schemes just to get a view from other side
I don't agree with the idea that we shouldn't build roads in rural India. If we consider profitability, there are many other things that the government shouldn't be doing, like installing streetlights in low-traffic areas, building parks, running buses in low density areas. Another point was about small shop owners seeing a decrease in earnings when large stores move in. But I think that if someone has been running a small shop for 30 years without being able to expand, they were likely to go out of business sooner of later. Just imagine, with the population growing so fast, sticking to the same business model for 30 years without expanding or innovating would someday lead to problems. Other thing that i would say is the MRP system should be done away with. It was useful during the socialist era but doesn't make sense now as free market should decide the prices and not the government.
In the entire podcast he's not said that roads should not be built in rural India. He said that it's important to build where necessary, not build like Sri Lanka in the middle of a forest which will have no multiplier, it's important to increase the income and movement of the place before building roads, so building hospitals, houses, toilets and schools before building roads. And saying that small business owners are anyway going to go bust so might as well let them go bust is a very dangerous proposition, big business can scale up very quickly and disrupt small economies, and it's important to know that these small business employ a lot more people, now economics says that these people are not efficient hence money / business moves away from them, but it takes time for people for these people to find employment and if they are semi literate this time can be even longer or permanent.
It's only one mistake Modi committed is let go all major corrupt people free. He just was delivering dialogues on Modi's guarantee but zero result. This, in last election 9 percent of core BJP voters didn't go to polling booth. Because BJP voters are supporters but not slave of Modi.
In my view, India’s biggest problems are its diversity, political system, and over population. India needs following revolutionary reforms to achieve China like growth: 1. The state must be created based on population rather than based on language, culture, religion, ethnicity, cast, etc. If any state’s population surpasses more than 3 cr, the state must be bifurcated immediately. 2. The state level parties are not allowed to participate in national election (loksabha) and the national level parties are not allowed to participate in state election. 3. To be eligible to vote in national election (Loksabha), one must have at least 12th pass qualification. 4. The selection of ministers in parliament must be based on meritocracy. For example, the elected member who has served in foreign service as an ambassador is only allowed to become a foreign minister. 5. Population Control Bill (Only 2 child policy). 6. One county One election
You should have make infographics based on the allocation amount and every responsible citizen need to know about possible frauds by political parties.
One disagreement Sir, Khatakhat will not be for 10 crore women. Assuming 20 crore of the bottommost poor households in India, (5 member on an average) only 4 crore women needs to be provided Rs 1 lakh translating to 4 lakh crore. The govt lost 2 lakh crore approx in cutting corporate tax that can be reimplemented. Further, GST collections will increase as these poor households won't spend in New York or Munich but in India. Rest is easily manageable by issuing 10 or 20 year bonds.
