In nepal, FCHV was first enrolled in 27 districts in fy 2045/46 and then expanded to 75 districts. there are 51470 fchvs in nepal among which 46088 fchvs are at rural/VDC level and 5328 fchvs at urban/municipality level..
fchvs are selected by "mothers group for health"(आमा समूह)
selection criteria:
1) she should be permanant resident of the place (might b married or unmarried..if married then women with three children are more priotized
2)age 25 to 40yrs
3)dalit and janjati women are more priotized
4)she shouldnot be involved in any other job
5)she should be literate
6) she should have work for 10 years if nominated as fchv once
7)application should be written to mgh(mothers group) first by interested one
18 days training is provided to them
SHOULDER BAG of fchv contains:
1. family planning devices
2. ORS
3. iron supplement
4. vitamin A
5. antifungal/antiseptics
6. cotton/ bandage/ scissors
ROLES OF FCHV
1. safe motherhood promotion( ANC,PNC,newborn care, safe delivery)
2. community based health education and promotion
3. family planninng devices distribution(maternal and child health care)
4. promtion on nutritional health and immnunzation
