When your diaphragm fails to contract and relax properly, the synergy between your diaphragm and glottis muscle gets disturbed. Now this glottis muscle starts to open and close with inconsistency. And as a result of sudden closer of glottis muscle, the oxygen inhale gets interrupted and a hiccup sound gets produced.
