Boys will be boys is a problematic and dangerous retort when it's used to excuse bad behaviour which negatively impacts others. The implication is that they shouldn't be held accountable as they have no control over their actions.
Some people don't understand the abundance of energy of many boys at that age. Sure, you can teach them to rein it in when it counts but it has to come out sometime. 'Rough' play is very a natural part of growing up for many boys. It simply needs to be channeled appropriately and a consensual pillow fight isn't a bad way to let that all out.
I just learned that this show is a performance of actors as litigant's and scripted. My suspicions of this led me to research as the 'star players seemed phony'. Am never watching it again!
