The lengthy and bureaucratic KITAS application process (commonly referred to as KITAS) for work visas and work permits can take many months. The majority of the work involved in obtaining an Indonesia work visa falls on the employer, who must also secure your work permit, limited stay visa, and resident permit. This is due to the fact that most of the work must be done from Indonesia. The Ministry of Manpower also receives this application.
You must apply for an Indonesian work visa (also known as a VITAS) at the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate that is closest to you. It is possible to live and work in Indonesia for up to a year with the ITAS (it can be extended). RPTKA and IMTA copies are required. Apply for the IKTA (Izin Kerja Tenaga Asing), often known as the "Foreign Workers Work Permit," at the Ministry of Manpower. Both you and your company are required to provide a number of documents when applying for an Indonesia work visa.
Included in this are the applications for the Expatriate Placement Plan (RPTKA), work permit (IMTA), and residency permit (ITAS). Your business is exempt from the requirement to submit an RPTKA application if you will fill one of the following roles. They consist of: a colored copy of your passport, resume, university diploma or degrees, whichever is highest. It must have the firm's stamp and the signature of a company director over the stamp, and it must be translated into either English or Bahasa Indonesia (if it isn't already). How long is a work visa for Indonesia valid?
Your initial visa will be a work permit (KITAS) for Indonesia, valid for three months to a year. This time frame can be extended before it runs out. A "Permanent Stay Permit" may be requested after up to three years of residence in Indonesia under a KITAS. The KITAP can be renewed and is good for five years at a time. They must find a sponsor (employer) and acquire their own work permit in order to be permitted to work. At the Indonesian Immigration Department, your employer must apply for their Indonesian visas at the same time that they do so for yours.
