X-rays were one of the first forms of biomedical imaging and NIBIB's 60 Seconds of Science explain how they create those images of bones we all know well.
There are different types of electromagnetic waves, and some are visible and some are not. The ones we are most familiar with are radio waves, ultraviolet rays, and microwaves. It is these invisible waves of electromagnetic energy that give us the use of X-rays. But let’s find out how X-rays produce a picture of our bones.
Production of X-ray / এক্সরে কিভাবে উৎপন্ন হয়।
When a fast-moving electron hits a metal, it emits radiation of a very short wavelength and high piercing capacity. This radiation is called X-ray.The scientist Rontgen, while examining the electromagnetism in the air at a pressure of 10−3mm mercury in the discharge tube, noticed that the barium platinosanide coated membrane located some distance from the tube was producing fluorescence. He later discovered that the cathode ray from the electrocution tube originated when it fell on the wall of the tube. He named this ray X-ray or X-ray.Ranjan ray is a type of electromagnetic radiation with short wavelengths. Another name for it is X-ray. The wavelength of a ray of light (usually 10-0.01 nanometers) is much shorter than that of ordinary light, so vision cannot create a feeling. The ray was discovered in 1895 by William Rontgen. The shorter the wavelength, the greater the ability to penetrate matter. Ranjanarashmi has brought a groundbreaking change in the field of medicine.
Production of X-ray/ production of x-ray,
X-ray is a type of electromagnetic radiation with small waves. If you don't know the basic process, the effectiveness of the machine seems a bit mysterious. However, the basics of X-ray machine are very simple. By heating an atom with heat, electrons are first extracted from it. Then that electron is given a lot of velocity. These high-velocity electrons emit X-rays only when they hit a metal. The cathode is like a filament. This means that the normal cathode does not have a rod-like shape on the head, the cathode is like a wire. It is heated by passing current through this cathode. As a result, the electrons in its atoms begin to vibrate by absorbing this heat energy and at one point become free from the atom. [1] Now it is free, but the work does not end here. Now they have to be given a lot of speed so that they fall on a metal. To give this velocity, a high voltage difference must be created between the metal and the cathode. This metal is often called the target material. This is what the anode is made of. It is given a high voltage relative to the cathode. Transformers are used to deliver extremely high voltages. X-rays come out of the anode due to electron injury. 99% of the total kinetic energy of an electron is used to heat the anode. Only 1% produce X-rays. The anode gets very hot so to cool it the whole X-ray tube is surrounded by cold oil flowing which takes away the heat, at the same time the anode is rotated. All the air is removed from the inside of the X-ray tube so that the electrons move towards the anode so that the air molecules collide with the atoms and hit the target without scattering. This X-ray is allowed to come out through a small window-like space. The bones of our body absorb this X-ray, but the tissues cannot. So on the X-ray plate the bone shadow actually falls in place of the bone we see.
