The word “Chutia” or "Chu-Tian" is actually a combination of two words “Chu” and "Tian". Chu stands for the Chu state of China as well as pure/good in both Chinese and Chutia language, whereas “Tian” refers to the ancient religion of China. “Ti-ya” also stands for agricultural land in the Deori-Chutia language. Chutias ethnically to the Tibeto-Burman Kamrupi groups of ancient Assam which falls under the larger Sino-tibetan family. Originally it was part of a single group of people who migrated from ancient China around 4000 years ago and are today known by various names such as Bodos, Kacharis, Dimasas,Chutia,Deori,Moran,Motok etc. A section of Chu tribe migrated through Jinjiang(Sinchuan), Lhasa(Tibet), Tsangpo(Tibet) finally settling in today's Upper Assam. These places are well mentioned in the folklores. During the stay in Changsha, Jinjiang as well as Lhasa, our tribe underwent significant cultural changes due to inter-marriages with the Ba and other such tribes of Southern China as well as Tibet. The ones who stayed back in China gave rise to the Southern Chinese dialects while the ones who migrated to Northeast India developed the Chutian language. During the period of stay in Tibet, Chutia people lived together with other Tibetan tribes which further led to similarities in their languages and gave rise to the Bodish group of Tibeto-Burman langauages. A section of Chutians migrated through Nepal , Bhutan and settled in the plains of Lower Assam, Meghalaya and Northern Bengal. These later gave rise to groups like Bodo, Rabha, Mech, Dimasas,etc. The second group settled in the plains of Upper Assam and the hills of Arunachal Pradesh and retained the original identity of Chu state i.e chutia . Its means at that time chutia is a geographical identity of all the indigenous tribe of Assam .
you say how kalta people came to India as if kskitas are foreign ners,have you found kalitas outside Assam ,Truth is it is said that Kalitas are a branch of Alpine race which got mixed with local then existing people of Assam and they are one of the oldest people of Assam though not so populous .

Right ..There were chutias but no trace of chutia kingdom as they claim ,at that time there was 75 percent forest which Chinese Historians also mentioned about Assam with very less population with only one two kingdoms.
