২০১৫ সালের ২৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি সন্ধ্যায় আমার মাদ্রাসার ক্লাসরুমে আমি হিফজ ও নূরানী বিভাগের শিক্ষকদের সাথে কথা বলছিলাম। নূরানী বিভাগের শিক্ষক কারী মাওলানা কবির আহমদ আমাকে বলল, হুজুর, আরেকটা নাস্তিক জাহান্নামে চলে গেছে! আমি বললাম, নাস্তিকের নাম কি? (যদিও আমি জানতাম, তবুও জিজ্ঞেস করলাম।) তার উত্তর, নাস্তিকের নাম অভিজিৎ রায়। আমি বললাম তার বাবার নাম জানেন বা তার পরিচয় জানেন? বলল, না শুধু জানি সে আমেরিকায় থাকতো। আমি বললাম, মানুষের মৃত্যুতে খুশি হওয়া ঠিক না। কারী কবির বলল, কিন্তু ঐ হিন্দু নাস্তিক যে আল্লাহর রাসূলকে গালাগালি করে তাঁর মৃত্যুতে আনন্দিত হওয়াই তো মুসলমানের পরিচয়।
আমি বললাম, ‘অভিজিৎ রায় নাস্তিক কথা সত্য, কিন্তু সে রাসুলকে গালি দিয়েছে কিনা সেটা তো তার লেখা পড়ে তারপর জানতে হবে। আমিও তার কোন লেখা পড়িনি, আপনিও পড়েননি। আগে জানা উচিত সে রাসুল সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লামের কি সমালোচনা করেছে।’
আমার সহকর্মীরা চাইতো, নাস্তিকদের মৃত্যুতে আমি যেন আনন্দিত হই, ছাত্রদের সাথে নিয়ে যেন নাস্তিকের মৃত্যু সেলিব্রেট করি। সবচেয়ে ভালো হয় যদি মাদ্রাসার ফান্ডের টাকা দিয়ে বাজার থেকে মিষ্টি কিনে নিয়ে এসে ছাত্রদের ও শিক্ষকদের খাওয়ানো যায়। তবে আমি প্রিন্সিপাল হওয়ার কারণে একান্ত ইচ্ছা সত্ত্বেও এসব কাজ আমাকে দিয়ে করানো সম্ভব হয়নি।
