** ধামাইল বা ধামালি গান ও নাচ সিলেট অঞ্চলে প্রচলিত একজাতীয় কাহিনী সম্বলিত নৃত্য যা এই অঞ্চলের লোকসাহিত্যের একটি অংশ। যে কোন মাঙ্গলিক অনুষ্ঠানেই এই গীত-নৃত্য পরিবেশনার প্রচলন দেখা যায়। রাধারমণ দত্ত কর্তৃক এই গান সর্বাধিক প্রচারিত ও প্রচলিত হওয়ায় তাঁকেই এর স্রষ্টা বলে গণ্য করা হয়। "ধামা" শব্দটি থেকে “ধামালি” বা "ধামাইল" শব্দটির উৎপত্তি; এর অর্থ আবেশ / ভাব। আবার, আঞ্চলিক / কথ্য হিসেবে এর অর্থ উঠোন। ধারনা করা হয়, রাধারমণ দত্ত ভাবুক প্রকৃতির হওয়ায় এই জাতীয় নামের উৎপত্তি হয়েছে। আবার অনেকের মতে, বাড়ীর উঠোনে এই গান - নাচের আয়োজন করা হয় বলে একে "ধামাইল গান / নাচ" বলে। এই গান / নাচ বাংলাদেশের বৃহত্তর সিলেট (সিলেট, সুনামগঞ্জ, হবিগঞ্জ, মৌলভীবাজার জেলা) অঞ্চলের লোকসংগীত বা লোকনৃত্য হিসেবেই পরিচিত। বৃহত্তর সিলেট ছাড়াও এর পাশ্ববর্তী ব্রাহ্মণবাড়ীয়া, নেত্রকোনা, কিশোরগঞ্জ, ময়মনসিংহ জেলার কিছু অংশে এবং ভারতের আসামের, করিমগঞ্জ, কাছাড়, হাইলাকান্দি, শিলচর এবং ত্রিপুরা এলাকায় ধামাইল গানের প্রচলন রয়েছে।
এই গান / নাচের কিছু বিশেষত্ব রয়েছে; যেমন:
* এটি নৃত্য সম্বলিত গান; অর্থ্যাৎ, এতে গানের তালে তালে নাচও হয়।
* এটি কাহিনীমুলক পরিবেশনা; অর্থ্যাৎ, এতে এক একটি বিষয় / কাহিনী নিয়ে তার বিভিন্ন অংশ পর্যায়ক্রমে পরিবেশন করা হয়।
* মঙ্গলিক আচার; অর্থ্যাৎ, এটি কেবলমাত্র শুভ কোনো কাজের পূর্বে পরিবেশন করা হয়।
* বাড়ির উঠোন বা আঙ্গিনায় এ নাচ হয়ে থাকে। তবে ইদানিং বাহিরেও এ নাচ করা হয়ে থাকে।
* পুরুষ বর্জিত আচার; অর্থ্যাৎ, এটি কেবলমাত্র স্ত্রী-সমাজেই সীমাবদ্ধ। তবে ইদানিং পুরুষরাও এ নাচের প্রতি আকৃষ্ট হয়েছে। মহিলাদের সাথে অথবা আলাদাভাবে নিজেরা তারা এ নাচ করে থাকে।
Dhamail or Dhamali song and dance is a traditional folk dance of the Sylhet region which is a part of the folklore of the region. This song-dance performance can be seen in any Mangalik event. Radharman Dutt is credited as the creator of this song as it was popularized and popularized. The word “Dhamali” or “Dhamail” is derived from the word “Dhama”; It means obsession/feeling. Apart from greater Sylhet, Dhamail songs are prevalent in parts of neighboring Brahmanbaria, Netrakona, Kishoreganj, Mymensingh districts and in parts of Assam, Karimganj, Cachar, Hailakandi, Silchar and Tripura in India.
