বহুদিন টেলিভিশনে অনুষ্ঠান করার সুবাদে আমি কৃষকের মাঠে যাই। যেতেই হয়। কৃষকের মতোই আমার মাঠে যাওয়ার বিষয়টিও প্রায় নিত্যকার। প্রতি সপ্তাহে তিনটি অনুষ্ঠানের জন্য মাঠ আর কৃষিই আমার সম্বল। মাঠের ফসল, গ্রামীণ জীবন, কৃষকের ভালোমন্দ, দেশের খাদ্যপণ্যের বাজার, আধুনিক প্রযুক্তি আর সব মানুষের আশা-নিরাশার জায়গাটি তুলে আনাই আমার কাজ। বাংলাদেশের গ্রামীণ জীবন ব্যবস্থার সব জায়গাই আমার মোটামুটি দেখা। তারপরও গ্রামের প্রতি আমার কৌতূহল যায়নি। কয়দিন পেরিয়ে গেলেই মনটা বড় টানে, গ্রামে যাই।
গ্রামে যেতে যেতেই আমার বার বার মনে হয়েছে শুধু আমি গ্রামে গেলে তো হবে না, সব শ্রেণি-পেশার মানুষকেও গ্রামে যাওয়া দরকার। বিশেষ করে শহরের সব শ্রেণিরই গ্রামমুখী হওয়াটা খুবই দরকার।
আজকের প্র্রজন্মই একদিন রাষ্ট্র পরিচালনায় অংশ নেবে। তারা জানবে না কী করে রোদ-ঝড়-বৃষ্টি উপেক্ষা করে কৃষক কেন তার জীবনকে নিবেদন করে কৃষিকাজে! শহর-নগরের আধুনিক কিশোর-তরুণদের কাছে পেলেই এই ভাবনাগুলো ওদের মাঝে তুলে ধরি।
Hridoye Mati O Manush, the agricultural mission of Channel I took this new initiative to introduce the significance of agriculture and farmers among the new generation as part of its many other initiatives, taken so far. The initiative is now known as, 'Firey Chol Matir Taney' or 'Returning to Roots'.
Agriculture is the mainstay of our economy but it always remained beyond the urban thoughts for many years. Farmers sacrifice their life to feed the entire population, but even today's city-dwellers could barely feel farmers' struggles and miseries during farming processes, let alone the new generation.
They don't even have any idea on diverse aspects of agricultural production and commerce. This is a big conceptual gap in an agrarian country where we live. To cut back this gap, Hridoye Mati Manush has taken this initiative to give an overall idea on agriculture to the future country-leaders...the new generation.
As part of it, urban students go to a remote village for three days and they work as farm-labors.
Through this programme, they'll realize a farmer's deprivation, sacrifice, what they get and what not, wage discrimination and about farmers' daily reality. This is such practical learning through which, their conception, psyche and agricultural evaluation will transform radically and one day these students can contribute to the sector, not only by becoming a farmer but helping a farmer with their ideas which they learned pragmatically.
Students' gathered experiences and written research evaluation and surveys will be broadcast nationwide and presented nationally. A set of recommendations will be submitted to the government as a guideline for the state to take necessary initiatives in favor of farmers and agriculture.
On the other hand, the students will receive an honourary certificate of 'Hridoye Mati O Manush Fellowship'. The fellowship will be a priceless recognition for their educational and professional life.
This is the second episode of Season 2 (Boro) where students from Asian and Southeast universities took part. Starting from last year's Boro (East West University) and then coming to the Aman of this year (North South and BRAC University, in total, eight students took part
