Amitabha Chowdhury (11 November 1927 - 1 May 2015) was an Indian investigative journalist. He received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for his reporting on individual rights and community interests in India.
Amitabh Chowdhury was born on July 16, 1928 in Sylhet. After the partition of India, he moved his family to the Barak Valley of Assam.
He studied at Visva Bharati, Calcutta and Santiniketan.
He taught at Santiniketan for some time in the beginning of his career. Later he joined Anandabazar newspaper. He was also the news editor of this newspaper for some time. Later, he was associated with Yugantar and Azkal newspapers. He reached the peak of fame as a journalist.
