In today's power-packed episode of the Kaka Balli Punjabi Podcast, we're joined by Prabhjot Singh, an expert immigration agent based in Punjab, India, to shed light on the burning issues faced by Indian international students-particularly from Punjab-trying to make their way to countries like Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
🔥 Key Topics We Discuss:
Protests in Canada: Why are thousands of international students-especially from Punjab-protesting? Is it due to fraudulent documents, or is there a deeper political game at play in Canadian politics? 🚨
Travel Agent Scams: Punjab has seen a rise in fraudulent travel agents. What's causing these scams, and how can students avoid falling prey to them? We explore the racket and the red flags to look out for. 💼
Canada's Economic Appeal: Despite skyrocketing inflation, why is Canada still the number one destination for Indian students? What’s the allure, and why do students still choose Canada despite its growing economic challenges? 💸
Student Struggles & Fees: We dive deep into the daily struggles of international students, comparing the experiences of Millennials vs. Gen Z students. From rising college fees to living expenses, how have the challenges evolved? 📚
Australia vs. Canada vs. New Zealand: A comparison of how these countries handle student car loans, insurance, and other financial aspects. Is Australia's immigration policy too tough? Is New Zealand not as welcoming as it seems? 🌍
Asylum Visa Trend in Canada: Are Indian international students genuinely using asylum visas, or is this a loophole in the system? We break down the reality behind this rising trend. 🛂
Community Support: Why is the Punjabi community abroad not stepping up to support their fellow Punjabi students? We look at the disconnect and its consequences. 🤔
Visa Policy & Crime Surge: With Canada's liberal visa policies, crime rates are rising, leading to an increase in asylum applications. Are these policies backfiring, and how do they impact the safety of students and the community? 🧑‍⚖️
Are Students Ready for Big Responsibilities?: We ask whether students going abroad at such a young age are truly prepared for the responsibilities they take on. Are they mature enough to handle life in a foreign country? 🧳
The Ethics of Immigration Agents: Prabhjot discusses how easy it is to become an immigration agent in Punjab and emphasizes the importance of being an ethical businessman in this often shady industry. 💼
Negative Sentiment Toward Immigration Agents: In Punjab, there's growing resentment against immigration agents. What's driving this negative sentiment, and how is it affecting the industry? 👀

Canadians are raised to not hate and to embrace diversity (including being taught this in all daycares/schools). People need to look at all sides. India has a 29% unemployment rate amongst it's own graduates. One of the big reasons why young people are leaving India in droves. Plus less than 50% of the 950 million working-age population in India is employed (compared to over 70% in other emerging markets). Amongst the Indian working group, many are self-employed and contain “unpaid helpers in family enterprises”. India has one of the highest emigration rates in the world. As many zero in on education as a way to gain access to a western country? Did international students/families pay into Canadian taxes all their lives like domestic students have (earning cheaper tuition fees)? No. Plus Canada did NOT tell international students/parents to spend/risk their life savings on a "Canadian dream". Canada did NOT tell international students to borrow money. Canada did NOT promise international students work. Canada did NOT promise international students PERMANENT RESIDENCY. Meanwhile freelance agents have been operating in an unbridled market in India. Often by painting a distorted picture of what students can receive from Canada. Plus in recent years, a new type of recruitment has cropped up via foreign nationals as many "edu-tech" have created online platforms to connect millions of potential students with the recruiters. The sub-agents have absolutely no no direct connection with the Canadian college. Plus the college has no no ability to control their conduct. Indian sham operations abused/abusing Indian students in person &/or via massive advertising ... PRIMARILY in their native language that most Canadians do NOT understand. They paint a false picture in the minds of their own people (of what Canada could or would or should offer Indian students)! Canadians are seeing Indians protesting & waving their flags on Canadian streets making demands. Because they may not have enough credentials to remain in Canada? And because rules designed to protect CANADA are not meeting their desires? Why isn't there repetitive crowds of African or Caribbean or Filipino etc., students making demands? They're in Canada too. And Canadians are seeing Indian protestors carrying signs telling Canada (one of the most tolerant countries on the planet) to end it's racism (by not deporting)!!! Really angering Canadians. And even though Canada is being falsely/unfairly blamed for too much, Canada has yet to deport students like crazy (but likely will soon). Instead Canada has been trying trying to find balance of who can stay vs go. While also trying to fix anything Canada did wrong. Create a better future. Why? Because Canadians actually care about doing so for both Canadians and international students. Canada's own are also victims of the $ greedy Indian 'agents' who misrepresented Canadian PR. Due to a severe lack of homes and entry jobs in Canada partially due to Indian STUDENTS creatively swarming post-secondary SCHOOLS, with vast majority fighting for PR versus returning home without it when SCHOOLING ends! Regardless of their qualifications or Canada's needs? Many asking for asylum too (which Indians rarely qualify for). Perhaps false asylum claims should be a reason to permanently ban people from ever returning? Canada PR has NEVER been tuition purchasable. Questions: ⦁ What is India doing about any of this? After Canada told India to halt Ghost Consulting? Indians themselves say their Indian leaders are often corrupt & deceitful. Canada didn't have numerous PRIVATE 'diploma mills' until 40% of international students were from India. Many in or near Brampton Ontario, and Surrey British Columbia, where most Indian Canadians have lived for decades. Coincidence? Schools that Canada is now shutting down. Who created & bankrolled these PRIVATE schools? ⦁ What about all the social media videos that primarily Indian nationals have posted (for half a decade now including today) all advertising Canadian PR like they're selling a shirt? Promoting Canadian visas & permits & schools & jobs etc. etc.. Videos not only posted hourly but rarely in English or French. With very rare input from Canadian citizens. ⦁ What about the IELTS spouses? Anchor babies? ⦁ What about Canadian food banks & other charity services being recklessly advertised on social media in Indian languages? ⦁ What about Canadian housing being scooped up en-mass as investment vehicles by, and for, foreign nationals? Some home rental/boarding signs stating "vegetarians only can apply". Often these 'landlords' also cram 20 students in a small home and charge each way too much for rent. ⦁ What about Indian nationals buying local businesses then repeatedly putting Indians only in the top tier positions (while also changing familiar work practices)? Plus BC & Ontario are also outlawing the Caste System. ⦁ What about the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortions across Canada? Diasporas stirring up tribal hatreds (in Canada) even though it all stems from their ancestral home. Why??????? ⦁ What about the Canadian government launching investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections, stemming from Asia continent? Canada also had to end flagpoling at the border. Canadians are so so so not used to all this!! Do Indians care about Canadians suffering too? Or do they primarily want to point fingers at the Canadian government etc., when many things weren't in Canada's control (yet)? Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Now everyone I know is VERY happy with IRCC's recent changes (reductions & multifaceted investigations etc.). Including multi-generational long-term Asian Canadians MOST upset (by all of this).
