Poda Pitha Recipe ( Odia ) : Poda Pitha means sweet Baked Cake . One of the most popular traditional dish of Odisha enjoyed during the 4 days of " Raja festival " . Which has many variants. Traditionally, Rice and urad dal / black gram mixture wrapped under a banana leaf . Then baked for long time in slow to get the slight burnt flavour . But, here I have shown a new style of Odisha famous Poda Pitha without using or soaking the white gram ( biri / urad dal ) for long time . Which is prepred with rice and Poha/Avalakki in a Kadai. Also grated coconut, dry fruits, jaggery is used in this Pitha. So, learn the step-by-step procedure of making this Odia authentic Poda Pitha recipe made by mrunalinee in this video. Ingredients :
1. Raw Rice ( Arua Chaula ) or Idli dosa Rice - 2 cups ( 250gm ), soak 1 hour
2. Raw Avalakki ( Poha / Chiwda / Chuda ) - 1 bowl ( or 1½ palmful )
3. Jaggery ( Gud / Guda ) - 5 tbsp ( or as required ) , must add to get nice brown colour of this Pitha or else use Sugar
4. Grated Coconut ( Nadia Kora ) - ( 3- 4 tbsp ) or as required
5. Black Pepper powder ( Kala Golmaricha gunda ) - 1 tsp
6. Green Cardamom powder ( Gujurati gunda ) - 1 tsp
7. Dry Fruits ( Cashew nuts or take any ) - roasted ( 8 - 10 nos. whole )
8. Thinly sliced Coconut ( nadia pati ) - roasted
9. Clarified Butter ( Ghee / Ghia ) - 2 tbsp ( or as required )
10. Salt to taste
