I am also French.. my Grandpa worked as French Police back in 60’s and his Dad worked in French court too. All their birth certificates that we still have are transcripted in French. We can’t have Dual Citizenship because Indian Govt does not give us that rights. We do have OCI instead so we can live in India as long as we want. So it’s mistaken as dual citizenship.

I have never met even one single person who went to a Grand Ecole in France outside france, while I have worked with lots of people from top universities from other parts of the world. The French were conferring French Citizenship irrespective of ethnicity, race since the times of the First Republic, more so and easily since Napoleon III. During the Fourth Republic after WWII, all people of French India were also full French Citizens like any other French Overseas Department. So Tamil people did drogam to people who took good care of them(French) and fell for the false hopes given by Gandhi, Jinnah, Sardar, Nehru all of them were british barristers and the first three were Gujratis. Now they are suffering. I could see the deep pain, helplessness and remorse in the eyes and heart of those people. I have heard even 20 years ago that lots of Tamils were in the legion, I met a US Marine long ago who worked alongside the legion, commended Tamil Legionairres for their extraordinary courage, bravery and valor. The Tamils, Telugus, Malayalees and Thuluva were no less in their stupidity and fell for the evil schemes of congress men and did drogam to their own leaders of Justice Party. The Justice Party leaders were educated people who were businessmen,economists. hereditary(for thousands of years) administrators. The were dead against complete independence, they were not even for dominion status. Their stand was they South Indians have work to eradicate the ills and malice in their society before going for self governance, they envisaged an enlightened society before seeking independence. It is very well accepted that we need atleast an educated society if not an enlightened one for effective functioning of democracy They also wanted to square up 400 years of accounts with the brits before separation. Rajagopalachari died a very sad man for having supported Gandhi, Nehru, Sardar and Jinnah. He supported DMK (succesor party to Justice Party) in the elections and we now have them. I am saying all these because, my maternal great grand father was the headmaster. teacher to Rajaji, on my paternal side, my great grand fathers grand father was one of the founders of Justice Party. We only hope that things can be better in future.

My home town is Pondicherry... Adding to all the information on positive side let me add up two which i know and which i have seen. Which i know: Brathiyar wrote குயில் பாட்டு when he was i pondicherry from a Mango farm which was also know as குயில் தோப்பு.. nice song have a read when you find time. Which i have seen: The sweage which is show it does not end in that area... its a long connection for KMs some underground and some open. on postive side the plan is to make pondicherry not taken by sea as the place is low lying area of sea. If you can go to indira Gandhi stadium and sit on the top seat of the view point and see the SEA will be of that height. So there is always danger of sea entering town. This happened when tunami stuck tamilnadu and pondicherry the sea water started to come fast through the sweage in reverse way from sea to sweage and those sweage are interconnected which leads near ousteri lake and that inturn connects to sankaraparani river(Gingee river) and that inturn connects to again sea.. so water will move out at any cost back to sea at no extra cost even if it enters lands... and also there was a passage which govt later closed the underground passage will start near that white town area and lead to Gingee fortress which is belived to be dugout by desingu raja(Gingee King) when he rulled in Gingee.

French Nationality awarded only to those who opted in 1962 otherwise they become automatically Indians eventhough they served in French Army. In.my case,I was born in French regime and studied in French college, I have lost fr.naty due to non opting for fr.nationality. After getting fr.naty,they have to forgo indian nationality.This is the case.

Only 1 citizenship…. If Indian passport he has rights to vote in India . With Indian passport we can’t vote for french election . If he gets French passport he has to surrender the Indian passport to French government and get French passport,( French citizen can get OCI (long term visa) and can settle in India for long term.but they don’t have rights to vote for India election, they can vote for french elections in french consulate… Even as Indian we can get long term 10 years visa in France and renue it as long as we live there.it’s not necessary to get French citizenship to live in france..(working visa, study visa, dependent visa, Indian parents living with French passport sons /daughter ) French can only have french passport . Indian can only have Indian passport. We can’t have both citizenship
