110th Birthday remembrance of M. A. Kalyanakrishna Bhagavathar
Happy Navratri Greetings to G KRISH Bhakthi TV Viewers.
Smt. J B Keerthana Shriram accompanied by S/Shri B. Ananthakrishnan on the violin, Poongulam Subramaniam on Mridangam and Sai Subramaniam on Morsing performed the musical concert on October 12, 2023 at 6 p.m. at Raga Sudha Hall 85/2, Luz Avenue, Mylapore, Chennai to commemorate 110th Birthday remembrance of M. A. Kalyanakrishna Bhagavathar.
M.A.Kalyanakrishna Bhagavathar was the grandson of the legendary Kalyanakrishna Bhagavathar of Travancore Palace Asthana Vidhwan during the 1860s. M.A.K.Bhagavathar was equally proficient in vocal and veena. He was Professor of Music at Central College Madras. He taught veena & vocal at Wesleyan University, Connecticut, USA. He was Principal of Ramanathan Academy in Jaffna, Ceylon. M.A.K. has travelled across India and abroad giving vocal & veena concerts. He has received the Sangeetha Nataka Academy Award from Kerala. He was the Travancore Asthana Vidhwan. Besides being a performer, he was an excellent teacher and has trained numerous students in India and abroad. The Music program was presided over by Shri. V.V. Sundaram, Musicologist & Critic. The program started with a prayer song by Smt Lakshmi Ananthakrishnan, Professional Musician. Shri K.Balasubramaniam , Son of Maha vidhwan M.A.Kalyanakrishna Bhagavathar welcomed the chief guest, artists and the audience . Smt. Nandini Balasubramaniam was present on the occasion.
