Mr Veteran, don't confusing people, mf & equity cash segment profit or losses come under capital gains or capital loss, STCG - Investment holdings period less than 12 months consider Short term, if short term capital gains means investor wants to pay 20% on gain (before 22nd July 15%) LTCG - Investment period more than 12 months consider as a long term, Here gain is exempted up to 1.25 lakhs balance will taxed @12.5% 😂

He is not telling the full truth. Seems that he has shallow knowledge knowledge on taxation. The entire dividend is taxable at the slab you are in. You might have to shell out additional tax. So you can’t adjust this dividend tax against any other taxable income.

4:47 Don't think so. You need to apply as early as possible and then apply for 2 to 3 lots, chances then will be atleast 1 lot you'll get. I tried this for an IPO recently and I got 1 lot out of 2 successfully. However the same method didn't yield when I applied on the last date of IPO for 2 lots. So, early application and more than 1 lot strategy might work with above 40% success...

For NRIs Tatamotors was not profitable. For example I holded 120 DVR, after conversion suppose to get 78 shares out of 84 share by selling 6 shares for StCg Tax but in reality got only 56 shares due to wthd tax. In total loss of 36K and no communication received from Tata motors. If IDFC is also same way, then better to sell and buy IDFC first manually for same price. What is your view on IDFC merger in terms of tax implications?

IPO is lottery system. allotment based on number of lot request. If you applied 5 lot, then it will be considered as 5 request. You may get 0 to 5 lots based on your luck.
