காகமும் பாட்டியும் கதை, புகழ்ச்சி வார்த்தைகளால் வஞ்சகமாக ஏமாற்றப்படுவதை சுட்டிக்காட்டும் கதை ஆகும். ஒரு பெரிய ஆலமரத்தில் ஒரு காகம் மகிழ்ச்சியாக வாழ்ந்து வந்தது. ஒரு நாள் காலை அந்த காகம் மிக தாமதமாக எழுந்ததால், அந்த காகத்தால் தன் நண்பர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து உணவு தேடச் செல்ல முடியவில்லை. அந்த காகம் உணவைத் தேடி கிராமம் முழுவதும் பறந்து கொண்டே இருந்தது. அப்பொழுது அது ஒரு வயதான பாட்டி வடை சுட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்ததைப் பார்த்தது. சிறு முயற்சிக்கு பின்னர் அது ஒரு வடையை தன் அலகினால் கவ்வி எடுத்துக்கொண்டது. அது வடையின் சுவையை அனுபவிக்கும் எண்ணத்தில் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் தன் மரத்திற்கு திரும்பியது. இதற்கிடையில் ஒரு வஞ்சக குணம் கொண்ட நரி ஆலமரத்தின் வழியாக வந்தது. அது, காகம் வைத்திருக்கும் வடையை பறிக்க திட்டமிட்டது. அது காகத்தின் தோற்றத்தைப் பற்றி புகழ்ந்து பேசி அதனிடமிருந்து வஞ்சகமாக வடையை பறிக்க நினைத்தது. நரி நினைத்தது நடந்ததா?. காகம் நரியிடம் தன் வடையை இழந்ததா?. நீங்கள் எப்பொழுதாவது இது போன்ற புகழ்ச்சி வார்த்தைகளை கேட்டு அவர்களின் வஞ்சக வலையில் வீழ்ந்திருக்கிறீர்களா?. ஆம் என்றால் இந்த ”புகழ்ச்சி வார்த்தைகளை நம்பாதே” என்ற இந்த பாடத்தை நினைவில் வைத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்."
The crow and an old woman is a story about deception through flattery words. A crow lived happily on a big banyan tree. One day he woke up later in the morning and couldn't join his friends to go in search of food. Flying across the village he saw an old lady frying delicious vada's and with a little efforts he even manages to grab one in his beak. The crow flies to his nest to relish on the vada. Meanwhile a fox passes by the banyan tree and watches the tempting vada in the crows beak. Irresistibly he tries to outwit the crow by flattering him about this appearance. will the crow fall for the cunning fox's flattery and loose the vada?
