Kerala, a surreal destination where the morning brings in the mist and magic. Fondly called the “God’s Own Country”, this is the place where the backwaters hold everyone captive with their alluring silence.
Parambikulam Tiger Reserve
Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is situated in Chittur taluk of Palakkad district and is about 100 km away from Palakkad. The challenging hill ranges here are placed at an altitude of 300 to 1438 m above sea level and the place offers a good climate with temperatures ranging from 15 degree Celsius to 32 degree Celsius. Sprawling over an area of 285 sq km, Parambikulam can boast of the first scientifically managed teak plantations of the world and also houses the world's tallest and oldest teak tree.
Kanthalloor
The Kashmir of Kerala, Kanthalloor in Idukki district is a serene village known for its cool, balmy weather all through the year. Nestled in the Western Ghats along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, the village is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The hamlet is around 50 km from Munnar and is located on the route towards Udumalaipettai on SH 17. A photogenic place, Kanthalloor is surrounded by lush green hills, deep echoing valleys and vast farm fields.
Due to its mild climate, the village situated at a height of 5,000 ft above sea level is home to a wide variety of crops that are not found elsewhere in Kerala. We can find varieties of orange, strawberry, blackberry, plum, gooseberry, peach, passion fruit and much more.
Thoovanam Waterfalls
Thoovanam Falls is a waterfall located near Munnar, Idukki district, Kerala, India. It is located in within the Pambar river of Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary at a distance of eight kilometers from the Marayur-Udumalai state highway. The waterfall falls from a height of 84 feet.
Munroe Island
Munroe Island is a hidden pearl in the backwaters which is composed of a cluster of 8 islands. Each of them is separated by small water channels and lakes. Munroe Island is located about 27 km from Kollam.
The place is named in honour of Resident Colonel John Munroe, of the former princely state of Travancore. He is said to have integrated several backwater regions by digging canals. Some of this island’s main attractions are the narrow waterways, canal cruise and the famous Kallada Boat Race held here during the 10-day festival of Onam. It offers a unique and tranquil setting, far away from the constant chaos of modern life.
Kochi
Kochi represents different things to different people. To many, it is an emerging cosmopolitan city with bustling life in the streets, the cinema halls, the shopping malls, and the skyscrapers; the commercial capital of the state, with a style statement different from the rest of the State - whether in clothes or lifestyle. To some others, Kochi is a place with deep roots in history and its streets exude an old-world charm; a place with beautiful monuments and a variety of linguistic and ethnic communities including Jews, Konkinis, Gujaratis and so on. Yet another group looks at Kochi as a thriving, expanding market, providing opportunities for growth and prosperity to all who knock at her doors.
