I prepared it today. First I was wary of using Omam. I thought that the flavor won't go with kadamba sadam - it would strike a discordant note. I was totally surprised. It added an interesting flavor to the sadam. I was reminded of Perumal Kovil prasadams. The temperature outside is below freezing. The spicy kadamba was heavenly. I feel warm after consuming it!

This akka has the most beautiful and mesmerizing eyes. Avaraikkal - broad beans Kothavarangai - cluster beans Sepangirangu - taro root Sakkaravalli kirangu - sweet potato or yam Vennakadalai - peanuts Karamani - black-eyed Pea Mochai - lima beans Sundaikkal - turkey berry (this belongs to the solanacea or eggplant family) Omam - ajwain or carom seed.
I love the way you do your cooking episodes ..... I can see so much love while cooking. I understand Tamil to an extent but not everything as I studied in Chennai but not a tamilian. I would love to have some subtitles or English description of the ingredients used especially when using certain oils and powders and also for quantity portions. I am already hungry watching this and I want to try making this sometime.

Most nutritious one pot meal. Combined with curd rice, the best free lunch served in temples. Imagine the kind of nutritious meal that every temple served for devotees until the government took over all the temples! We need to restore this system again.
Omum podi feels odd, bcs it has very strong dominant flavor & I have never have tasted kadamb sadam smelling like omam added to it. Rest everything is super. I'll definitely try this recipe. How was it really not the taste but the final flavour?
Every year in the month of Margazhi, my mother makes this with Thiruvadhirai kali. It is dam tasty but missing this from the year 2008 as she is no more. Very nice

Such an authentic recipe! She explains it all so well. Please post more such recipes. I am on a quest to find such recipes. My mom hasn’t prepared Kadamba Sadham in ages. This is somewhat similar to Misra Tarkari Anna prepared in Karnataka temples. I found that recipe once online and lost it. It does not have dal in it if I remember it right. Pls prepare that also if you find it anywhere. Thanks in advance.

Though the procedure seems to be little elaborate, yet going to give a shot, for sure. Recently, I had been to our Kovil at Pulavanur and the thaligai panra mama made this item. It was awesome and too tasty and didn't get rotten till next day morning. I am sure, Renuka Mami's preparation would have been the same standards. Thanks for the detailed sharing.👍🙏🙏
