Ep-13 Ahalyavil Theneer
A Krishnaswamy associates (p) Ltd production - Nearly five decades ago, a popular Tamil weekly published a serial called THUPPARIYUM SAMBU (Sleuthing Sambu) written by Devan, a humorist comparable to P.G.Wodehouse in creating immortal comic characters. This was an instant success because the hero, Sambu was a uniquely entertaining "sleuth" who established rapport with the entire Tamil reading public with his "exploits" which unearthed many peculiar crimes which were "solved" mostly by accident when Sambu stumbled on the clues. While taking a walk in a park, Sambu overhears the conversation of a young couple and is shocked by their discussing their plan to murder somebody. Sambu himself decides to follow the couple since he overheard the boy and girl fixing up their next meeting venue. He arrives in time and to escape attention he behaves like a wax doll himself, freezing himself in one position. By that time another couple and their friend discuss their dramatic themes. They are discussing the next theme for their play to be held in a bungalow called `Ahalya' to entertain guests in a tea-party. How Sambu stumbles on the clue is narrated in the rest of the story.
