MR was ungrateful, and later switched to a LESSER "composer" because he (after riding a happy piggy-back on IR for 10 movies, and earning critical nation-wide acclaim) now did not want to be "dominated" by IR music, but wanted to have the upper hand, which happened with Arr easily! 1:15 - There have been several GREAT compositions of IR with other directors as well; even a so-called sumaar song of IR, is still 100x better than any crap you listen to today (or for the past 3 decades) in the name of "musical", "viral", "trending" etc. 6:27 - Mano was introduced in Fazil's Poovizhi Vaasalile though "Thenmozhi" song came out earlier. 8:45 - Folk songs of IR - MR: Nee appodhu paartha puLLa, Maina maina (Pagal Nilavu), Oororamaa aaththupakkam, Andhi mazhai megam (North Indian folk-base) - all of which had different colors because of IR's genius orchestration. There were no folk songs beyond that because MR did not do a folk-genre movie, AND IR knows what to compose for which movie! He will not "insert" a folk song for the sake of it in Mouna Raagam, or compose faux-folk and dump them in a folk-story like some Bharathi Raja movies of the 90s duping (gullible) audience! Still, MR's BEST works (cinema) are those with IR: Anjali, Naayagan, Thalapathi, Mouna Raagam, Agni Natchaththiram (in that order), and Gitanjali was good in parts (different for that time). Anything beyond Thalapathi, MR was super-overrated. Also, right from his 1st movie, MR was CLEVER in hiding his film making flaws by roping in a good set of technicians!

How did you miss to mention Om Namaha from Idhyathai Thirudathey? Its one of my fav. My dad have a original cassette of the movie. I don’t know how many times I listened to it in our national tape recorder.

Idhaya Thirudhathe has a brilliant bg score. My fav is where nagarjun char realises the value of life. Wonderful work from Raja sir. I even wonder sometimes, Dil bechara is celebrated by northies now. But our own MR and Raja made this even before in a more connecting and emotional way. Happy to have watched it earlier.
