Welcome to our exploration of the Durga Nava Raatrulu Festival, a significant celebration that takes place in October, from Asweyujsa Sudha Paadyami to Dasami. This festival, also known as Sarannavaratrulu, is dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga, who embodies strength, compassion, and wisdom.
Over the course of ten days, devotees engage in special pooja rituals, honoring the various forms of the Goddess. Each day holds unique significance and offerings, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of this festival.
On the third day, we honor Chandra Ghanta Devi, also known as Annapurna Maata, who embodies the essence of Durga Maata. Revered as the mother of the universe. Residing in Varanasi, she is often depicted holding a rice bowl in one hand and a Ladle in the other. Devotees believe that she roams the streets in the afternoon, nourishing the starving and that even Lord Shiva seeks alms from her. By worshipping Annapurna Mata, devotees find relief from their fears and are blessed abundantly for their acts of charity.
As part of the rituals, Dhadhojanam is offered as a sacred offering to the Goddess.
On the fourth day, we turn our attention to Goddess Kushmanda Devi, also known as Lalitha Devi. She is depicted with ten hands, symbolizing her ability to care for all creatures in the universe. It is believed that she cures long-standing ailments and bestows complete health and happiness upon her devotees.
Black gram and Ginger made Vada is offered as sacred food to Lalita Mata.
Throughout these ten days, devotees engage in various rituals, including Abhishekam, Pushpaarchana, and Kumkumaarchana. Each act of devotion strengthens their connection to the divine and enhances their spiritual journey.
An essential aspect of the festival is the Suvasini Pooja, performed daily to honor married women and seek their blessings for prosperity and well-being. This ritual underscores the importance of women in society and their role in nurturing families and communities.
The Durga Nava Raatrulu Festival is not merely a time for worship; it is a celebration of life, culture, and community. It serves as a reminder of the values of compassion, unity, and the importance of giving back to those in need. Join us in this vibrant celebration, as we honor the divine feminine and the rich traditions that bind us together. Thank you for watching this video.
