You might have eaten various types of halwa, but have you ever heard of a halwa made with a banana? Here's a traditional dessert recipe from the Kerala cuisine, which is cooked on special occasions and festivals and will make your mouth water. Mildly sweet and chewy, this sweet dish is prepared using banana, ghee, green cardamom powder, and last but not the least sugar. You will be surprised to know that this Banana Halwa does not use much sugar, as bananas are already too sweet, it is just added to enhance the flavour of the dish. You can just use jaggery powder instead of sugar for a delicious taste. Do try this recipe at home, rate it and we are sure that it will be loved by kids and adults alike.
ingredients
Bananas 10
sugar 1 cup
cardamom powder 1 tsp
ghee as required
cashew nuts
preparation
To prepare this delicious banana halwa, peel the bananas and cut into small pieces blend into smooth paste. take a pan add ghee once ghee heated add cashew nuts & fry cashews on low flame. Transfer this cashews into plate and add banana paste into ghee. Stir the mashed bananas in ghee and cook for about 15 minutes or until they become light brown in colour. Keep stirring the bananas to avoid them from sticking at the bottom of the pan. Add 1cup sugar to the pan and stir well to dissolve the sugar completely and cook for another 5 minutes. Add Roasted cashews and cardamom powder and stir once again for a few seconds and remove the pan from the burner. Transfer the halwa to a serving bowl and allow the mixture to cool down at room temperature. Banana halwa is ready. Now cut thick slices and serve!
