The Sri Durgaaparameshwari Temple, Kateel is a Hindu temple located in the town of Kateel in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, India. It is dedicated to the goddess Durga Parameshwari. The temple is situated on an islet in the middle of the sacred river Nandini amidst panoramic scenes and fascinating greenery. The temple is believed to have been built in the 10th century CE. The main deity of the temple is a 3-foot-tall idol of Durga Parameshwari, which is made of black stone. The temple is a popular pilgrimage destination for Hindus from all over the world.
The temple complex is spread over 10 acres and includes a number of other temples, as well as a library, a museum, and an orphanage. The temple is also home to a number of annual festivals, including the Kateel Durga Parameshwari Festival, which is held in the month of October.
