There is a variant. With equal quantities of all dals, wheat, we also add same quantity rice too and fry it. And equal quantities say 1 tbspn of jeera, pepper, mustard and methi seeds and 1 chillie

@@KannadaveeNithya yes in small quantities. You can see many other videos , it is added in many household. We add very minimum red chillies but get the light heat and aroma from pepper.
