Ingredients required:
Any millet 1.5 cups(i used barnyarad millet(
Toor dal 1 cup
1 cup peanuts(soak overnight)
Or 1 cup of raw peas
Vegetables of your choice two cups
2 tablespoons of oil or ghee
2 tablespoons of broken cashews
A little bit of curry leaves
Chopped Tomato 2
Chopped capsicum 1
Tamarind quarter cup
A little bit of jaggery
2 tablespoons of bisibelebath powder
1 t spoon of pepper powder
Salt
Procedure:
Rinse and wash Millet and Dal 2 to 3 times.
Added into a cooker, also add in soaked peanuts,vegetables and one teaspoon of oil.
Add 5 cups of water and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
Take a big Kadai and add in 2 tb sp ghee/oil .Once heated put the broken cashews and then add a little curry leaves followed by a Pinch of Hing. Now add chopped capsicum and tomato and cook and cook until it become soft. Now add salt, turmeric powder, and 2 tb spoon bisibelebath powder also a teaspoon of pepper powder. Mix well and then add tamarind juice. Add small piece of jaggery and 2 to 3 cups of water. Let it boil. As it starts boiling add in cooked dal and millet mix. (Remember to add the cooked millet and dal mix soon after the pressure releases, never keep it in the pressure cooker for a long time as it becomes hard.)
Mix well and finally adjust salt. Top it with a tablespoon of ghee, cover the lid and switch off the flame. Serve it hot with khara boondi or raita of your choice.
