If you see Pragg's interview after the match, he himself admits Carlsen was just trying to have fun. This tournament was not officially under fide, hence winning matches doesn't improve your ratings. Also in the last two rounds Carlsen was playing while listening to Norwegian podcasts that's the equivalent of Sachin playing with his eyes closed in cricket😅. Give some recognition to Nihal Sarin (a malayali) too. He won individual gold medal in the chess olympiad 2022, defeated carlsen in an online blitz game, has an elo rating above pragg, and achieved many more.. but still malayalam media is not giving enough recognition to Nihal.
Prag is brilliant than Nihal. He defeated world champion more than Nihal. Regarding ratings, don't focus too much on this, may be you were from olden days were more mark is considered as more brilliancy. Even Gukesh is better than Nihal.
Being a die hard chess fan and follower myself, I can proudly say that Pragg 🇮🇳(as the community calls him) is an absolute beast of a player and him beating the GOAT, Magnus, is truly a remarkable achievement. However, I certainly don’t agree with what you said about Magnus. He is the coolest, most witty world champion chess world has ever seen. And we DON’T hate him for beating Vishy. Magnus and several other top GMs are known for falling asleep during classical matches (as classical matches sometimes extend upto 7-8 hours). After all chess is a high level mental game, one doesn’t become a world champion only with strong play, it demands a super strong mind as well, and I don’t think a legend like Vishy would get distracted with his opponent falling asleep. Let’s not spread hate unwittingly.
Thank you for speaking some sense. There is a game between Pragg and Carlsen whr Carlsen gets visibly frustrated and upset and Pragg plays a wrong move. That is the love he has for the game. Winning 3 matches against one of the best players ever to grace the game is no mean achievement but Pragg has a long long way to go. Funny that almost no one knows about far higher rated Gokesh, who by the way is younger than Pragg or Nihal Sarin who has also beaten Carlsen thrice. But then we like it in our movies.
